Johannes Klien stared dumbly at the impossible creature flying before him, finger frozen over the trigger. Despite all his training, all his bloodlust, he just could not think of a good reason to fire on the grey Pegasus.
Shaking his head clear, he eased his beloved 262 into a loose formation aside the little creature--and found himself looking into a pair of bright, cheerful yellow eyes--one of which was skewed comically to one side.
His would-be target's smile made Johannes want to smile himself. She--the Pegasus was definitely female--waved a hoof in greeting. On an impulse, Johannes rocked his jet's wings in salute.
They flew on towards a town on the horizon.

The Messerschmitt 262 is probably my favorite WWII aircraft of all time. And this is amazing.
Also, I favorited this about six times.

Some do it to shock.
Some do it because they seek attention and twisting something aimed at children into something aimed at adults is a good way to do it.
Some do it because they believe that there is beauty in anything that can cause arousal.
Some are just messed up.

To Perfectblue: Drew Derpy with a surprised expression and was playing around with light and clouds and the idea just sprung up. 262s are awesome so I thought "Why not.. lets just add a 262 for awesomeness."
To DragonStrider: I dont know the answer to that question. To each their own I guess, though since I've never tried drawing clopping ponies before I cant really answer that.

Actually myne was directed to the other guy,since he clearly has a problem about a German jet fighter flying next to a pony.
I dont got a problem myself.In fact I've had the same idea (though with Rainbowdash) just never got around to drawing it. I love WW2 German Aviation,its planes and its pilot who I regards as heroes,and this is just....awesome.

Assumed the fighter only flies a bit faster than Derpy, it will have passed her in less than 1 second, the distance shown in the picture is absolutely NOTHING in arial combat.
Also the weapons aren't even pointed at Derpy. In this position there is no chance for the pilot to shoot down Derpy.
That's what i'd say as a long-term combat flight simulations player.

With a compitent enough pilot it can happen.

With a compitent pilot that wants to shoot derpy down, this picture wouldn't have happened. This situation appears, when the pilot aims slightly above derpy and then closes up until it's too late to turn down and aim at her.
Like i said, the distance shown on the picture is nothing in arial combat, this is way past the point where you normally stop firing and turn to prevent crashing.

I've read many books about arial combat, two about german fighter aces in WWII and i've played some combat flight simulators(heavy realism based ones) for a long time, one of it the legendary "IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles" with all expansions.
I won't say i'm an expert, but i know enough to tell normal firing distances from definitely too short ones, and to tell the direction the weapons would fire if i see a plane from an certain perspective(these are basics for shooting and dodging bullets).

This one i didn't read, but i've heard about it. From the 2 Books about fighter aces i only remember the title of one, but in german. it's "Holt Hartmann vom Himmel" about Erich Hartman with 252 kills. The other Book was about german fighter aces in WWII in general, but like i said, i don't know the title anymore.
