Description
I'm gonna be moving this to Scrapbook soon. I'd just thought I'd show you people how I'm doing in Paint Tool SAI. Respond if you can, before I scrap this.EDIT: Never mind, I won't scrap it. I'm also going to add a light source.
EDIT: Gave it a light source. Tell me what you think.
EDIT: Edited it some.

Nice! I like the shimmer of light on the ocean surface, it gives it a peaceful feeling!
(you'd asked me to look at your gallery)
(i'm not sure if you'd wanted advice?)
what i could tell you would be: don't be afraid to paint, be really "free" with the way you paint (details come last) and if you want to learn how to use colors, light/shadow, paint from references (it's not hard at all) (don't be afraid to be loose and sketchy with paint, that way, it'll take away the fear from it)
It's good to with painting programs!
most of all, enjoy the work too

All this would be easier if I had a tablet, it's hard to paint with a mouse.

This isn't bad for a first attempt! I particularly liked the clouds and the reflections you put on the ocean.
However, you do need to work on shading/values like someone suggested. For example, I don't see a light source in this painting. Light is the thing that makes or breaks a painting, so do try to work on that! You may want to watch videos on Youtube for paintings, personally, I find that they help a lot in that respect. A quick search will turn up quite a few.
Go on Google and learn a about composition, or, where you put objects in your pictures. They can help guide the viewer's eyes and make the picture more pleasing overall.
There's a lot to cover when it comes to painting, and I can't possibly post everything here. The best thing I suggest you do is be proactive and find out yourself!

I see what you did there, but lighting is more than just adding some yellow in the corner
Lighting is how light interacts with objects and materials. For example, you can give a lot more depth to the rocks if you would just add some highlights to where light reflects off it.

Alright, I tried making the light interact. I'm pretty sure it failed.

I see... I'll go back in there and make the rocks shiny.

Thanks, I can see what you mean about a light source. I really need one.

This looks nice! I like the way you drew the water.
Just add some more lighting/shading and it'd be amazing :3

Thanks. My favorite part would have to be the clouds, though.

Thanks. I don't think it'll be up for long, though. I just wanted to get some reactions before I scrap it.
