What is the difference between Artemis and Selene since they are both Moon goddesses.Β

short answer based on my MYth comic setting is this:
Selene=moon/direct mirror of the actual moon in outer space.
Artemis=representative/ helper/ assistant of Selene.
For classic description please look it up at Greek mythology sites~

So....Selene is the actual personification of the Moon, kinda like Gaia is the actual Earth. While Artemis is just someone who takes care of all of the Moon's duties(e.g traveling across the sky, turning the tides, etc)?Β

Update for gallery would be irregular ^^
I'm working on MYth's monthly webcomic updates on inkblazers.com
so I don't have much time to create full color illustrations like these. Β

wow.. you have a very good gift when it comes to patience!!!!!!!!!
on another thought entirely, can i expect any updates on smackjeeves any time soon, i've tried seriously everything i could think of with inkblazers and i'm getting nowhere, it's only letting me read the first two or nineteen pages and i can't buy them either... is this normal or am i just dumb

if you sign up for a free account on Inkblazers, you get to read all of my works except it's 60 days behind from the newest content. Β
(you can read everything up to the latest pages if you subscribe.) Β The update of MYth on Smackjeeves has ended with the ending of "MYth: A Promise" Β I will still update the MYth OMAKE on smackjeeves when I get anymore pages done, but all other serious MYth titles will be published on Inkblazers.com only from now on. Β Β
I must do it this way because Inkblazers pays me (based on amount of subscribers), Smackjeeves doesn't.
I hope you can find a way that's good for you to follow my comic.
Thank you ^__^

Selene, the titaness of the moon and my representation in the astrological zodiac. The moon is so beautiful and I have a special affinity with it like I do with water! She is gorgeous and this is amazingly good!!

Love this! I am sure you already know that Sailor Moon was loosely based on Selene and her lover Endymion. I always find it humorous how Helios and Selene get mixed up with Apollo and Artemis.

When the Olympian gods took over, many Titan gods and goddesses lost their titles and duties to an Olympian. Selene and Helios are one of the few who did not lose their position.
However the Greeks would, in re-tellings of myths, sometimes fuse Helios with Apollo and Selene with Artemis thus why people mix up their positions.
Thanatos, also a Titan, kept his position as well as Hecate and a few others who remained neutral in the OlympianxTitan war.

Yeah I can see that. Curious though, what made you decide to pick Greek Mythology over Roman?
π: 0 β©: 1
IceQueen987 In reply to Pristine1281 [2013-06-08 19:04:54 +0000 UTC]
I always felt Greek was a lot richer. Also, Roman mythology borrowed heavily from Greek once they conquered Greece but Roman mythos also borrows from all the other culture of the lands they conquered so it's a larger mash up. Also, Romany mythos tends to be more heavy-handed with the gods and goddesses being very aggressive and war-like which I'm not a fan of; Greek god and goddesses feel more complex to me.

Nice. I know this is a Roman myth, but I would love to see you do Cupid and Psyche drawing. It's still one of my favorite love stories of all time and has a good ending lol. Of course, I can't quite remember if it was originally a Greek Myth.
