Description
Another sketch from figure drawing class. A quick pose, maybe 5 minutes. This one is very messy, the charcoal is like that! But something about it I liked, at least marginally. Lots of funkiness in my drawing because I've been away from figure drawing (drawing from LIVE models, not photos) for too long. But I think I'll get back into the groove soon enough. I can see why you liked this one. It is messy, but you can get a real sense of the figure's weight/volume through the line and shading. Also, the placement of the figure and composition works well. The smudges do detract a bit from the rough charcoal texture of the rest, but the way you approached the drawing overall is solid. Quick sketches like this are always fun!
