Description

I finally started my storyline

It was a chilly afternoon in January, the forest was all but quiet. Save for the few individuals at the stables, preparing their horses for training. They parted ways, each on to do their own thing. Petra and Damian both warmed up their horses, before moving on to some jumping exercises. The stakes were high after all, with Damian competing in HCL this year. After hearing the news he almost doubled the training, saying he “has to be prepared.”
Petra thought he had already improved so much after Crosby’s clinics, Luminosa was so much more relaxed and respectful both under the saddle and in hand. Yet Damian always has something to pick on. One moment he wants to be able ride faster, the other he focuses on his techniques.
After a while of Petra observing Damian, they switched roles. Now it was time to show Damian what she had learned the past few weeks while he was gone.

“You’re sitting too far forward again.” Damian corrected her. “And don’t try to rush it , focus on your seat first. Getting a good time comes later.” Petra was happy to get help, but sometimes Damian could be a bit too picky on her riding. Sure he had some good points.. and she had to give him the fact he was far ahead of her, both in in his riding abilities and competition-wise. He had been riding for so much longer than her, after all. But right now she wanted to just have a bit of fun while exercising Vil.

After they were done, they decided to cool the horses down and ride through the forest for a bit. Much to the delight of the horses, which were happily marching on. It was always so relaxingly quiet in the forest. The only sounds to be heard were the rustle of leaves and the steady clopping of the horses’ hooves. After a while Petra broke the silence “You should try to relax, you know, take it easy for a bit. You still have enough time to be serious about it.” She said as she watched Damian try to relax. “There’s just so much to do. I’m finally coming close to accomplishing my dream” Damian sighed before moving on. “And I can’t shake the feeling that I’m still not good enough.”
“I’m sure you’ll be fine. I mean, look at how much better you’ve gotten since that clinic. And you’re still getting better.” Petra reassured him, though it only served to make him more nervous. “Yes, but there’s so many good riders out there, some of them have competed there before.. And they all still improve every day. They know their weaknesses and are able to ride on them. They.. they-”
“They are all still human beings. You have as much a chance at winning as they do.” Petra interrupted him. “Let’s just head back for now and then we can make a training plan together. I’ll be there to help all the way. How’s that sound?”
Damian mumbled a thank you as they rode back to the stables. Damian felt better knowing Petra was so eager to help. Perhaps he did stand a chance against all those riders.
