:c idk you guys.I really like my ferret style, but this is more "ferret like". It looks too normal. D: bah.
I think I'd be too depressed to change my ferret style into this, lol. it doesn't look bad though. ;-; but my other style doesn't look ferret like.. ? .... but I can also argue that cartoons aren't always accurate and they don't have to be.
Idk. I'd like to hear some opinions from my watchers, plz.

i figure the pointy ears are cute and work better for the way you draw ferrets. d:

-Ah, torn here.. Cartoons are usually incorrect when it comes to features, to give themselves a unique style and character. Pointy ears work lovely for that. Cat Scratch is a good example of that. Also, the animals in Invader ZIM.
Round ears will help people who don't know you get a better chance at calling it a ferret. If you don't want round ears, do you add whiskers?

I try to add whiskers most of the time, but I forget easily. :C I hope the addition of whiskers make it easier for people to tell.

Do whatever suits you. I've felt that way before, but I just draw whatever my hand wants to, I don't think about it or care anymore. But this style is cute and adorable

XD I'm honestly not sure what to say. Thing is, everyone can have a style of their own, or go with another style, or style that's been used to death.. I personally like your style as it is, because it's newer to me, and keeps me coming back for more. Although this is still quite awesome X3

I'm not sure. I'd say go with whichever style you'd rather draw. I -really- like the ferrety-ness of this style, but at the same time I find the pointy-eared Zen incredibly cute.
Not to say they're not both cute. Nyah.
Personally, I like the rounded ears more in general. But it's really your decision, 'cause you're the one drawing it, not me. It's your art, and meh to anyone who says otherwise.

well, my fursona's a ferret, and I always draw her with small, rounded ears. I just try to be realistic. but if you want to give Zenity pointy ears, go for it.

Looks more ferretlike, yeah. The other style is a little more lively, but you could probably figure out a way to improve on this, because it's not bad..
Anyway, who ever said you had to settle on a single style? I kind of have two different styles, one that's a more serious style for when I'm sitting down to draw something for several hours, the other is a simpler cartoon style... this one looks more like a serious style, the old one is more playful. Depends on what type of picture, as to what'd work better, yeah?

I was thinking about that. Good input, thank you. I'd like to keep the pointy-eared Zenity around for good, I don't think I could part with it. XD but for more "serious" pictures or, realistic ones, I could draw in this style... ._. it seems like that line would become really fuzzy for me.... Like one of my friends said above, I could try to apply the ferret like body and keep the pointy ears... because those are really the only two things I'm changing (and the ferret body can easily work with pointy-eared Zen)

Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-22 06:15:48 +0000 UTC]
Or maybe keep the pointy ears but make them a little bit smaller? I don't know how that'd look, but it's a thought. Otherwise, yeah, change the body and keep the ears. It'd look ferrety enough with the long body.

I've been gradually making the ears smaller, or shorter, rather. XD you should have seen them in like, 2004. .__. they were like, spikes. ahaha.
but I think I'll do that.

It's a wonder they didn't catch enough wind for liftoff.
Then again, I can't talk. I used to draw people with heads twice as big as their bodies. Ahahaha..

I think all of us went through that phase. Though, I still sometimes draw people with really big heads. (even when I'm TRYING to be accurate.)

Usually I don't draw huge heads anymore... I'm good about that now. My problem is huge hands... like, bigger than the head ahaha..

Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-22 22:38:56 +0000 UTC]
Most of the time I think people draw huge heads because it's easier to do the faces that way... I say, if you can't draw the heads small, just draw the bodies big, right?

Zenity In reply to Kindernacht [2008-07-23 01:43:15 +0000 UTC]
ahah, right. Also I have issues with using guidelines. I use a circle for the head, and a line for the center of the face... but that's it. D: I can't work with guidelines very well at all.

Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-23 02:53:09 +0000 UTC]
I.. don't use guidelines for the face at all. I should use them more, it'd look way better..

Zenity In reply to Kindernacht [2008-07-23 05:28:03 +0000 UTC]
oh dang. XD well, I only use two shapes/lines for guidelines anyway. D': otherwise... I never use them. ... aaha, I'm not sure if I should try it out more often or not.

Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-23 07:07:46 +0000 UTC]
I've got a bunch of drawings with no guidelines, and a bunch where I tried to wireframe or something... what I figured out, is that until you get good at wireframing, it has a habit of making anything you draw look fat.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-23 07:26:57 +0000 UTC]
I think... that's just because it's hard to draw the wireframes small, and I was so accustomed to drawing things tinier than hell. I draw too big, now, but at least it doesn't look fat. (Even on the rare occasion I decide to wireframe)...
It's kind of something that looks worse at first, but then you improve, and it looks much better in the end.

Zenity In reply to Kindernacht [2008-07-23 08:02:37 +0000 UTC]
hmm. I should keep that in mind. D: I'm sure I could improve with wireframes if I just stuck with it.

Kind of like how, after drawing Irkens for forever, switching to humans is kind of a drop in skill because you're not used to it. But hell, you've gotten good at that. You probably could figure out wireframes pretty well. If nothing else, they make it a lot easier to draw poses..
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Zenity In reply to Kindernacht [2008-07-23 18:25:53 +0000 UTC]
ahah that's a good way of putting it. Thanks, I think I've been improving on my human style. :C I remember the first human picture I uploaded here... when I was for srs trying to switch to humans more. x_x soooo bad. Even others said so. But yeah, poses... I gotta try those more often too. DX
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-23 18:37:43 +0000 UTC]
Your human style definitely has improved.
But yeah, poses help. In my older drawings, it's mostly the same poses, and since I drew so many different characters all the time, it didn't matter. But now, whenever I draw too much of the same pose it's obvious, because I've got a few characters I favor. If you change the pose around, you can get away with drawing the same characters, and not seeming like you're just repeatedly drawing something.

ahaha, yeah. very true. One thing i've got issues with is drawing full-body pictures. ._. I either reach the edge of the paper at the waist or I just... don't bother drawing the rest. XD

Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-23 18:45:10 +0000 UTC]
I've noticed that with myself. I think it's because legs are so awkward to draw- and hell, I still haven't gotten good at that, even with wireframes. I can draw the weirdest, coolest, most interesting poses on the planet, but no matter how good everything else is, the legs suck....

Kindernacht In reply to Zenity [2008-07-24 02:07:57 +0000 UTC]
Let's invent a new species of human with no legs! Just uh... they float or something. Something clever like that.
Be a hell of a lot easier to draw.
