Description Here it is! I worked on this first part of the photoediting workflow for a while, since I was stuck with university's tests lately... well, I rounded up all the things I had to say about my personal single-layer/adjustement tips. For those interested in more advance techiniques, I'll be working on them, I promise!
Anyway... this is just out of the editor, so there might be errors and other stuff I'll fix later. If you have any suggestions to enhance this tutorial or make it better, don't hesitate and tell me please!

Hope this one will be of some help to anyone!

Good tut I know most of the stuff already, but this'd be really helpful to those who are new to digital photography.

Thanks, I hope so!
When I'll find some more time I could write a new one with things I discovered recently, but it takes a load of efforts to make a tut (at least for me... ).

hey umm this is very usefull but i can't find the rgb curves could you explain it???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ZephonSoul In reply to oilz [2007-04-22 21:47:22 +0000 UTC]

I assume you know how to reach the "Curve..." adjustment layer. While there, you can click on the list box with the default item "RGB" to select one of the single channels (R / G / B). Editing each of the single curve changes the distribution of the selected channel in the luminance histogram. I hope I've been clear enough... if not or if you need anything else, feel free to ask!

Great - really useful! Have you covered anywhere how to create a layer mask?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ZephonSoul In reply to islandtime [2007-02-23 14:47:04 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
Nope, but I just assumed the reader would know... anyway, it's the b&w circle down in the layers diagram!

Thank you

ZephonSoul In reply to islandtime [2007-02-23 15:04:36 +0000 UTC]

whops! Sorry, I misunderstood...
To create a blank layer mask, you must click on the grey rectangle with the white dot in the layer diagram. Then you can edit it with any tool as a layer. Otherwise you can select a portion of the area and the make a mask directly with the layer meun option.

Thank you so much Alessandro. You are great at helping me out - much appreciated! I've had a couple of gos at hdr now by the way but so far I haven't been overly pleased with the result - I've experienced a few halo problems with trees but I think this can be one of the downsides can't it!? Anyway, I'll keep on trying & good to hear from you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ZephonSoul In reply to islandtime [2007-02-24 14:32:57 +0000 UTC]

Yes, unfortunately halos happen a lot with hdr! You should try to darken these areas or use different settings while on the processing (as enhancing the microcontrast smoothing or going less strong with the HDR intensity).
No problems for the help, I always try to do my best!
