Well sort of.  There's an ending that kind of sucks, an ending that really sucks, an ending that kind of is a good ending and a few endings that are slightly good.  It's a dark fantasy, all that's gonna happen is the world sucks slightly less.  It depends on what you do.  If you straight up kill the Hollow knight, you take its place, if Hornet joins you then you can either just kill the Knight or fight the Radiance which is the true final boss and there are few endings you get with the Pantheon and the Godseekers.

Also, since The Hollow Knight is free from the Radiance, it won't be evil anymore. It'll be really weak and it's missing an arm, for sure. But after stopping by at the ol' bench it'll be good as new. It also has emotions and a will since it's purity was tainted by love from The Pale King and The White Lady.

Judging by the release gap between The Grimm Troupe and Godmaster, the best case scenario would be by next November. However, since the Hornet DLC will have a lot of new content, it will probably take longer.

Yeah, there's character/creature design, animations for those characters and creatures, programming for the controls, landscape design, layout and so on.
