My Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters OC Devan Hyde (dub) or Hatsumi (初見) Daigo (大悟) (Japanese)

Fun fact, I haven't drawn this boy since 2015... but rest assured he's getting a lot of character development and will play a major role in my big future mystery project.
Notable change to his design - his eyes are now heterochromatic for lore reasons...

Another Test image as I continue experimenting with my yugioh OC's as sprites for a visual novel type game... I'm already noticing that I've gotten the sizes of the characters all wrong. I'll work on making that more consistent as I go because it's kind of jarring to see Devan and Zero side by side as Zero either looks like a giant or Devan is extremely small...

I'll probably be popping out these kinds of images featuring my other yugioh OC's here and there, trying to practice drawing all of them in this style and trying to maximize consistency... I think I got the skin color better for this image, but the size is the real problem here. I'll probably be doing Cain (GX) next, followed by Vega (Zexal) before tackling all the Arc V counterparts.

Some info about Devan since I haven't featured him in ages:

Devan is a card designer who once worked for Pegasus at Industrial Illusions. He was originally hired for his ability to see and interact with Duel Spirits - a power once thought only to be possible by wielders of Millennium Items. Despite not having a Millennium Item, Pegasus noted that Devan seemed to possess strange abilities reminiscent of their power and hoped he would play a key role in his plans to revive his deceased lover, Cecilia, during the Duelist Kingdom Tournament. After Pegasus's failure to defeat Yugi and his subsequent death at the hands of Yami Bakura, Devan Applied for a position at Kaiba Corporation, who bought out the rights to design future Duel Monster cards. Devan and Kaiba would make for an excellent team, as Kaiba was able to provide Devan with the tools necessary to innovate on his communication with Duel Spirits. By utilizing and perfecting Kaiba Corp's Solid Vision system, Devan began researching ways to bring the Duel Monsters Spirit World to life. He began working on "Project DT" - a System based on Noah Kaiba's virtual reality system that would render a massive virtual environment replicating the Spirit World. Due to Devan's mysterious powers, however, the results would be far greater than he had ever anticipated. Through his connection to the Spirit World, a link was somehow created between the real world and the Spirit World inside Project DT's VR system. Devan stumbled upon a Spirit world he had never seen before where tribes of people and creatures lived. These tribes would inspire Devan to create new archetypes of cards based on the inhabitants of the DT world, though it would take him many years to understand the process of bringing the cards to reality as many of them held the power of "Synchro" - an ability he did not yet understand. Around the GX era, Devan began experimenting with bringing several new Duel Spirits to life. He created an archetype based on the creatures of the Dark World, but it was during the creation of their cards that Devan began to understand the warning Pegasus had once given him concerning the creation of cards containing powerful Spirits. The Dark World cards seemed to be infused with an unstable power and so he decided to keep them locked away until he could work out the issues. The Dark World Deck would unfortunately be stolen by a Kaiba Corp Employee, who would give the cards to his son - a student at Kaiba's Duel Academy. Devan would go on to innovate on Kaiba Corp's technology and became partially responsible for the invention of Synchro Summoning, the Momentum Reactors, and Duel Runners. Project DT would also be responsible for linking multiple Dimensions and timelines, resulting in Kaiba's Crystal Cloud network and the world of "Duel Links" which would lead to a multitude of reality warping events. Some of the most powerful cards Devan was responsible for creating were four Dragon cards which would become scattered across the timeline and fall into the hands of several unique individuals who would play their own important roles. Most notably, Devan's most influential card designs would go on to cause a Dimensional disaster for a man named Zarc...

And that's the story do far! I can't wait to provide more detail on these events in future projects! Devan certainly became quite the pivotal character in my Yugioh AU~

Devan plays with a Gemini Deck, an Archetype he invented based on Duel Spirits he discovered. He takes a lot of influence from Fellow Duelist Joey Wheeler and eventually creates some Gemini Cards based on a few of his Iconic monsters.
