Great tribute.

Technically getter robo isn't by go nagai, he did design it.

sharknob In reply to postalthehedgehog [2015-08-01 23:25:32 +0000 UTC]

do you mean Go nagai only designing the robo and the creation belong to someone else?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

postalthehedgehog In reply to sharknob [2015-08-02 00:24:35 +0000 UTC]

Yep, Getter robo is more of ken ishikawa's work.

Thanks I'm flattered, yeah I like Ken's work too, just realized that Go was not the creator of Getter
so this giant robot belong to Ken or else? just curious Β

Vederli tutti insieme, effettivamente, è una gran bella emozione. Se poi il lavoro è di qualità così alta come il tuo, all'emozione si unisce il piacere di contemplare un'opera così piacevole.
Complimenti per il tuo talento.

Fantastic photo! I just don't think "Magne Robo Gakeen" is a Go Nagai super robot...Are you sure?

Zer013 In reply to Telbanage [2014-01-06 19:34:42 +0000 UTC]

I saw it in this list of nagai's works: it.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C5%8D_…
I don't know if it's a Nagai' idea or a collaboration (like the Getter Saga)...

Very awesome!

But...what's this? No Dai-X or Govarian? Still is a nice pic though^^

Fun fact: Kouji Kabuto wasn't the first to shout out his robots attacks, That honor would be Daisaku Kusama/Johnny Sokko with the original 60's Giant Robo manga/tokusatsu (Then again the rocket punch also came from Giant Robo as well). I believe Go Nagai did state that Giant Robo (along with Gigantor and Astro Boy) to be an inspiration

Thanks!
I din't draw Govarian (and God Mazinger and Mazinkaiser, ecc... ) because it has never been transmitted in my country (this picture is a tribute of the nagai's robots with which we have grown in 70's and 80's in Italy ).
And Dai-X (or X-Bomber as was named in Italy) was a live tv show with puppets, not an anime cartoon, so I've decided to exclude it

PS: that fun fact is very interesting... in our country Giant Robo was practically unknow (untill the OVAs of 1998) as for the original Tetsujin 28 (we saw only the remake of 1980).
That's because the anime phenomenon arrived in Italy in a very confused way: the very first giant robot we saw was Grendizer (Goldrake in Italy), and nobody knew that it was only the final chapter of the trilogy of the Mazingers! After it's huge success most TV channels bought the anime series about robots in a completely random way.... after Grendizer arrived Great Mazinger, then Jeeg and the Getters... we saw Mazinger Z practically as last (You can imagine the confusion of Italian children of the early 80!).

I see. Technically the X-bomber bit is true but I felt it would be nice and American's like me Got Giant Robo 1967 and India and Brazil as well but that's about it

Also you're welcome!

Nagai's involvement with the Getters was as a director in various capacities for the TV series and suggesting to Ishikawa early on that they be jets instead of cars when the first manga was way back in the early concepting stage. I believe he also drew the cover for the first Shin Getter Robo manga.

That aside, this is a fantastic image of what are easily among the most important robots involved in getting the whole giant-robot genre going. Well done.
