And there it is. He really isn't naive... just unabashed and courageous enough to put it all out there, even with everything on the line.
Ever want one of his most genuine moments? When you're on the path of Genocide, but decide to Spare him. He admits, "TO BE HONEST, I WAS A LITTLE AFRAID..." He probably knew full well what you were doing, and that you'd likely kill him, but rather than Fight, he gave you Mercy and kindness to try and turn you that way. And skeleton or not, that takes some real guts to face a murderer like that.

Pap should also maybe point out how Asgore really really didn't want to take those six souls. Its WAR. In war, sadly there are just no good sides. Both sides are, from a point of view, bad. To quote a certain green haired villainous troll: "This. Is. WAR. Compassion? Mercy? Kindness? What do you think this is, A TEA PARTY?! You won't find any of those here! Now, burn that little nugget of info into whatever you got that passes for a brain and PLEASE. Be more interesting next time? Do you think you could do that for me? Please?" Granted, guy said that after tearing a childs' automaton sister to pieces(its a LONG story how she is like that...) before brutally murdering him by tossing him into a black wall, but the point is still there..... lmao XD

I think that certain things can't be fixed and some mistakes can't be forgotten, but forgiveness is another thing, and Asgore isn't all that bad in the end - like, at all, he's always been one of my favorite characters, I thought it was so sad such a kind person was forced to kill. I hope things get better, now that the potato has spoken... His words shall be treasured

I too have struggled with forgiveness once or twice. Once, for two people who kidnapped and tried to murder my best friend. It was really hard to realize that the hatred I held for them was only eating me away inside. The same for a neighbor suspected of hurting me as a child. These people are people I'm not gonna go hang out with, I haven't FORGOTTEN what they did, but I HAVE forgiven them. ^^
