Description A concept piece for my co-op portfolio at college. Has taken waaaay longer to complete than I wanted it too, but I'm still very slow when it comes to digital paint.

Very nice looking. A few critiques from my inner milfag. Needs better protection on the sides, and on the insides of the arms. Just at a glance, it appears the back of the legs have no armor which isn't a good thing. It makes me think of it as a base design that's intended to be outfitted in various ways. Also you could add some armored magazine pouches and the like and it look really nice.

Some of the sketches had pouches and other gear, but i left that out for the final. I never did a finished design for the back of him, didn't have the time; but I would make sure to implement some kind of armour. I was trying to balance protection with flexibility; arms need a lot of flexibility and would allow for as much plating. I figured the synthetic muscles could also have some protective capability anyway.

True enough, but that moves you into Nanosuit territory. Which, I suppose it already resembles.

indeed. But even modern armours use kevlar and other such fabrics.

Face looks a little to big. like the rest of his head doesn't have room in the helmet.

Nice design all in all.

yeah some of the proportions didn't quite turn out, but i figured it was more about getting across the design than anything. Making the model right can always be someone else's problem XD.

As slow as it took it looks awesome, my problem is I end up rushing things and not getting enough detail despite I never post it on dA anyways! Nice job though. Looks really awesome, kinda reminds me of The Forever War (or at least how I pictured the armour in that book..)

you know, I've heard about those books but I've still never read them. Gonna have to do that sometime.

I cannot decide whether I want a purple visor or one in yellow. Maybe I should just buy two of these and figure out the weekly wardrobe later...

Excellent work, especially with your metallic shading effects! Looks very form-fitting and yet capable of deflecting a serious barrage.

lol, thanks. i actually went through about twenty colour combinations when designing it, then got feedback from my classmates. Went with this one in the end, felt the purple was a mostly-unused colour in videogame space marines.

And yeah, I wanted to get a sense of artificial muscles like in Crysis mixed with the armour-look in games like Halo.

Nice! I particularly like the visor. And all the little purple glowy bits. A little splash of color is always appreciated on designs like this.

Yeah I had some rough coloursets that were more of the generic military-green or grey, but i felt this combo worked, and the glowy bits helped liven it up a bit.

I would too. I could imagine it would be relatively teeth-proof.
