I'm thinking about doing a tutorial or something since you're like... the third person to ask me. In short without visuals to show, I paint it all out in grayscale and then slap overlays and color maps over it willy-nilly until I find what I like, painting out or in areas using a layer masks. I do live streaming occasionally where people can watch, but its often very very late at night when I get inspiration, so its not easily 'planned'.
