Backstory:

Nuic attended the Invader's Academy in his teen years along with Tex. He was one of those students who got perfect scores in every class. The teachers liked him, the students liked him. A certain event in his first year at the Academy, however, kept his ego from getting overinflated. He was promoted to a sort of teacher's aid in various classes after he had been in the academy for 2 irken years for his maturity and quickness to learn. He took part in organizing school events, training opportunities, etc. Only in the simulated battles was he starting to lag behind---he could shoot the targets just fine, but he wasn't good at doing the dirty, killing jobs that was expected of soldiers...taking innocent lives, or killing enemies who didn't come off as evil. In this, the academy saw a shortcoming, but he was good enough at everything else for them to overlook this, for now. Despite this, he recognized his own self-worth, and liked to think of himself as near-perfect...even going out of his way to be well-mannered at all times, to a point that it was weird to the rest of surrounding society, like he was some uppity, snobbish royal.

At age 18, he graduated from the Academy and, because of his school scores, was recruited to join an Enforcer (police) recovery team that specialized in quiet infiltration. When Nuic joined the team, however, he found his companions to be brutal, ruthless, and a hell of a lot rougher than the Academy. Nuic resigned himself to his work mates. He still saw himself as nearly perfect, so he could learn.

Sadly, I won't be going into detail about his very first mission. It IS where he got all the scars on his body. :"D WHICH YOU CAN'T SEE HHEERRE...But anyway.... during a following mission at age 21, his team went to a small planet that had recently been Invaded and Conquered. He was part of the 'clean up team'...meaning committing genocide of the remaining native inhabitants. This, at long last, slapped Nuic in the face. There was no shining glory in what the Irken Empire did. It was without mercy, and cared as little for its own soldiers as for the enemy. A horrified Nuic fled the planet on a stolen ship and roamed the galaxy searching for some peaceful place that the Irken influence had not reached.

After a couple of long years and failed settlement attempts, he found that place; a small, far-out planet called Hydrongia. Its inhabitants were mainly refugees and pacifists, peace-lovers and truth-seekers (Similar to the Buddhist monks of early days) made up of many different sentient species, most of which had resorted to fleeing to this planet after their own planet had been invaded by the irken menace. It helped that Hydrongia had a unique atmosphere/magnetic thing going on that made most ships that came close to it short-circuit. It meant no invading ships could land on the planet without ...well..crashing and burning horribly.

Naturally, Nuic, being an irken, wasn't too accepted at first. For his first year on the planet, Nuic lived in a void of loneliness and prejudice. When he was given a chance to prove his loyalty to the planet by training as a peaceable monk and protector of Hydrongia's inhabitants, Nuic took it immediately, and developed a very fatherly sort of attitude to the people helped. He also made the ultimate sacrifice to prove his separation from the Empire: He trained his ass off for years until, at last, he was able to remove his PAK from his body, having only the most basic life-support from the pak surgically added to his back. After that, Hydrongia began to warm to him, and he finally became one of their number. In time, he was trusted to go out on rescue missions, finding refugees and asylum seekers on the run from the empire, happy to be of use and prove that his species wasn't all bad.

And there he continues to live, mostly in happiness. Fun stuff!
