Fa Yuen Street
2007
Having some fun, I hate Mongkok, save for some specialty stores and wonderful octopus balls and noodles.
Originally, Katie was supposed to draw on this picture, with her cintiq, but that fell through.
I have a whole series of these digital manipulations from Hong Kong, so if you like this let me know if you want to see the rest.
Just a different take, mine, which I like of course.

Whaddaya mean you hate modern pro photography (not that I am a modern professional). I just hate that thing where you get a photo of something totally banal and then underneath is an essay which you are supposed to read in order to appreciate said work of art. Bollocks says i since I thought a picture was supposed to be worth a thousand words .......you know what I mean. Anyway I like your pictures they do have seem to have that quality which is the hallmark of people who have got mastery of technique or am i wrong?

I suppose long essays are to put the works above in a certain context? I wouldn't put words in other peoples mouths though!

oh how i missed hong kong, to be honest its not the greatest place when it comes to food and i only love it there since my grandparents were from there and i feel half of my roots belong there

I've only been to HK once...mmm octopus balls sounds yummy. I had a "there's a bug in my congee!" incident that put me off

Just makes me want to go to Hong Kong even more! I've been doing a lot of research on the city, and when I finally go international, I'm torn between where I should go first, Toronto, London, Hong Kong or Tokyo.

The only reason I said them is because they're closer, thus cheaper. But since hearing about your experiences, it would probably be best to save my money and go to Hong Kong or Tokyo first. Right now I'm leaning towards Tokyo, since I have a friend there.
