Description
Journey to a Star
16" x 24"
Dye transfer
2003
Did a complete 180 on this print from what I originally intended. The original, with very limited detail, was dark and almost resembled the title. It lacked some color, but I thought I would try to push some color back into it.
It's easy to just throw color at something. This was no exception. Used an indian crush color (Bern loves this type of talk) and used the dye.
Nothing special in that process, just used a weird color with different dyes when I made the image.
I love it, and so should you. It's a family walking towards the shrine in Hachinohe, Japan, my favorite city in the world.

the original was a color transparency, and I printed it and transferred it to a paper that was coated in that red dye.
VERY SIMPLE

color transparency .. like in positive film? so you print it "normally" (no idea how you'd do that with positives) and then the "transfer" is a seperate process in which you get the printed image on another paper?

God, Keith, the colors are gorgeous. I love the transition from crisp and clean to blurry, as well as the subject matter.

Beautifulβthough your original idea sounds just as intriguing as this photo looks. Not that I'm admonishing you for your final decision, mind you.

I used to have the original up, it's quite bland in comparison though.

Yay! You put this one up again. One of my top favourites from you. Everything looks so warm and peaceful and the family walking on the beach reinforces that feeling.
