Description
Mikya San Spring
12" x 18" Dye Print
2005
It has been quite a while since I have even looked at some prints from Northern Japan.
This was about all I made pictures of for awhile. Northern Honshu offers I'd say over thousands of monumental mountains and springs that really defy beauty.
Won't find them on any highways either, which is really wonderful.
A little green back in the gallery doesn't hurt, I just love this stuff, it's a ball to print too! The splash of vibrant color almost hurts the eye.
Thanks for looking.

I always wondered why does water in rivers, for example, have that look in photos. It's so weird, I can't put my finger on it to describe it properly, but it looks more like foam than water.
Is it an effect photographers consider beautiful or is it something else?

Cohesion mostly, if I wanted the shot with the water not fluid I would have made the photo differently.

Will you ever go back? Something so beautiful should never be left behind, especially forgotten. Thankfully captured pictures keep the memory of it as though it was yesterday.

Your very lucky to have such a lovely wife whose multi-talented. I would love to have a smig (hmm, not sure if thats a word) of her talent. But I will settle to just viewing the wonderful pieces she makes, and maybe one day be a proud owner of her art work.
I want to visit Japan one day, maybe you can tell us what to see, when that time comes.

It's stuff like this that makes me feel downright dirty, and quite guilty for shooting digital. If only I had the money and time to invest into a darkroom.. You've got some mad talent.

I am so late on commenting.
Anyway, I LOVE the shades of green in here, vibrant and lively.
I can almost feel a little breeze coming from the water.
Lovely work.

Those shades of greens and the rushing water gives me the sense that this place is just thriving with life. And yet, it's very relaxing.

Brilliant shade of green.
I've always loved the look of water taken with a low shutter speed.

The green colours and rushing water are so fresh and alive and beautiful.
You still need to show me Japan in the winter-time!

nah, more like SLAP in the face green... i love that, in new zealand we have evergreens all over the place, and it's just a dull green all the time. in europe you get that "Wakeup it's spring!" kind of feeling.
