Description
Name: GR4FT (alias: real name withheld)
Vehicle: 26-109-LXL Fliegendolch (roughly, "Flying Dagger") Fighter prototype (converted for racing)
Lucky Charm: "The Reminder", the last shard of GR4FT's original organic skeleton, preserved in a synthetic epoxy-diamond crystal
Special Trick: WM-5000 Pressurized Water-Methanol injection system
GR4FT is a cyber-pilot, a cyborg kept alive by advanced technology grafted onto what little remains of his original body. His body, lost in an accident (don't ask, unless you want a metal claw pointed at you), needed to be replaced by various machinery, leaving only his brain and spinal cord as his sole remaining organic body parts. Despite his fearsome appearance, and hot temper, GR4FT can be protective and generous to those who get to know him. He keeps his lucky charm, "The Reminder", as a macabre trinket made from his own skeleton to do just what its name implies: remind everyone that even with his fearsome mechanical visage, he's still a person, and not a flying metal menace.
GR4FT flies the 26-109-LXL Fliegendolch, an old prototype fighter plane built based on blueprints found in an abandoned factory years ago. To prevent the threat of Sky-Raiders (more commonly called "Air Pirates"), racing officials allowed the plane to have its designated assortment of weapons (two cowling-based machine guns and one center-fire motor-cannon firing through the plane's hollow driveshaft). The real trick of the aircraft, however, comes from its cooling system. Situated just behind the engine's supercharger and intercooler is a WM-5000 Water-Methanol Injection System which can, for a short time, spray water and methyl alcohol into the engine at high altitudes, giving it a temporary boost in performance, the cool water and methanol avoiding the drawbacks of overheating the engine like a nitrous oxide system would.
