Its a render from in zbrush so its the full sculpt, currently around 3.5mil polys

yes its just a mesh , in zbrush you dont really have to worry about polygons etc when sculpting until your ready to turn it into a game model.

It's cool; the process is really alien to me though. I know traditional box modeling programs, but always had professors tell me that it was pointless to learn the 'digital sculpting' software because I'm game design, basically and that high of tri count could only be used to bake a normals map for games.

Almost every modern game out today has used a digital sculpting program in there pipeline.
