This is an advanced layer tutorial. It will teach you how to use photoshop layers, the advanced way. If you are still basic inside photoshop i suggest you take some basic tutorials first.
excuse for the confusing guide, but deviantart didn't let me load images bigger than 10080x10080 pixels so i needed to
crop it up a bit.

I agree with people who make tutorials are great help for everyone.
I really admire your work so tutorial kind of showed me the part of magic 
And I always fail in coloring black&white first I don't know why but every time I try it looks even worse than when I do it in colors T^T.
Anyway it's the great help and I had to write a lot even on tutorial...God really have got too much to say...

i got to admit it takes quite sometime to make as well 
black&white coloring is just for example, i show how to use layers and adjustment 
Im glad there isn't a perfect way of drawing, so what every you do you can't be 'wrong'

Result worth time
I still don't get some differences between some layer styles (not ones you showed here)...anyway I'm still learning so I hope I'll know more

i don't use all the layer styles, some are worthless to me because the difference between each other is so small or the effect simply isn't any help

I use multiply and sketch most often. But I like manipulating with brushes
I had my software re-installed and my desktop is sooooo big (and everything else here) I cannot draw anything ;(.
I have to find a box from graphic card that is somwhere and nobody knows where

Ah, you took the grayscale approach to it. I usually colour as I go, I guess that works for my style but when you're doing a painty style like you have it's easier to do it this way.
