Description
Whew. This one really make me sweat. Here is the original version: [link]And for more info:
After the Secret invasion, Norman Osborn, (AKA Green Goblin, Spider-man Nemesis), had takeover SHIELD, (the spy agency from Marvel) and put together his own Avengers team (Dark Avengers, as in the 90 every was extreme, today everything is Dark) and put himself in a armour, becoming an amalgam of Cap America and Iron-Man, calling himself Iron Patriot.
Problem is Norman is a Supervillian and, as I see it, he eventualy will return to his evil roots. Some hint has been already given.
I suppose he will return as the Green Goblin in full fashion (I hope) but sometimes, I fear, Quesada (Marvel comics EIC) will be tempted to create the Iron Goblin, an Iron-Man armour which resembled the Green Goblin image. I mean, they had an Cap armour right now!
Why would they do this nonsense? I mean, one, this already was done in DC by Jeph Loeb in the first story from Superman-Batman with Lex Luthor (Supervillian with the legal absolute power put in an armour and screw it because he is mad). Just look the story on the DVD SUperman Batman: Public ennemies
But they will wanted because they will have a new figure to make it a toy.
So I draw here, to exorcise that idea from the creative minds at Marvel.
[EDIT] 15/04/2010: Siege is almost finished and I like to think that my little devoodoo worked. Still, there could come a what if post Siege in the future.
[EDIT] 10/30/2010: Well, some time later after finished Siege, and we never saw the Iron Goblin. But you never know what could bring the future what ifs.
************************************************
Uf.
¿
Tal vez

Of course Iron Goblin did happen during secret wars.

Yup. Kind of ironic considering Tony is the one wearing it.
(Don't worry, I know.^^)

At least that is a twist. But as I suspected, it was related to an alternative universe.

Yes. Alternative universe are always the ocassion of doing weird crazy stuff. However, I'm wary about them; especially the one where everybody dies in the end. Those sucks.

Not always. The good side of alternate universe stories is than writers can experiment and go in ways than mainstream continuity doesn't go or don't dare. Well, at least in past times that was the way.
In present time you can make any change and one year later there are no consecuences of those events. I suppose we live in a post continuity era, where canon is a lot more flexible. But of course, that always has been that way.

I can see your point, although I didn't read any of old-school What-If. Save for the "What If Gwen Stacy lived?", which was an interesting variation of the original story.
I'll say that What If can be it or miss to me, the ones I've read (moder ones) didn't leave a strong impression on me.
This is also why I'm a bit tired of crossovers events these days. Each year we've got that big think ,and it seems that the characters can never take a break, yet nothing ever really changes.
I supose that's one of the downside of mainstream super-hero comics. Those heroes have existed for so long, it's hard to keep them fresh and relevant when you still have to maintain some sort of statu quo/

It's a big trouble. In those cases, I reccomend to stay away from superheroes and read other things. Maybe indie comics, manga, books, anything. When you start to feel than those are repetitive that means you had read too much and need to stay away and refresh your perspective. Maybe you have outgrow superhero comics or maybe you just need a "vacation" from them.

Yes, I suppose I have to take a bit a time off of super-hero comics, at least the mainstream one. i'm stille keeping an eye on the production, though ,just to be sure. I mean, I sure still like the characters, it's just the way they're treated that bother me, I guess.
I'm just gonna take look a books as well. Didn't read too much of literrature lately.

Exactly. I'm reading the Lord of the Rings books right now, but they're quite a drag (to me at least). So I switch to the Harry Potter books from time to time, since I only see the movies.

My young padawan, read the Lord of the rings (poems included) is like make flexions for the brain. At the beggining is more hard but the more you read, the easiest becomes. But read the Harry Potter novels first is a good detour. But you SHALL return to read Tolkien books. And forget the movies. The only movie you must project in your head is the one you imagine. Make a recast of the characters even if you like, but create your own movie.

Thanks for the advice! I'll come back to the Lord of the Rings for sure! Just after I'm done reading the first HP novels at least. ^^

Yep, I like it too. I wonder if in Armor Wars there will be a Iron Goblin.

I had the same idea. Except, in my imagining, he starts with a Stark armor, goes to the Ultimate Hulk-ish version, and then compromises by being like 616 Gobby. But great work, this is cool!

Thanks, when I did it I almost was expecting to this would appear in one moment or other and did it in some way. But I did almost like a way to avoid it. Looks good but narratively it was a bad idea.

"MARVEL NOW"..?
Or, also, you just could write your own stories, with your own characters (totally differents or "insired in") and publish it and show it to the world.
