Description
My version of Fred from Scooby Doo.In his new history, Fred is a quarterback for his school's football team. He's got a fascination with weaponry and traps and because of that his favorite subject is Shop Class. He likes to always have a weapon on him at all times whether its a super glue grenade or a Vertigun. For a history project he's partnered up with Daphne Blake, who has an obvious crush on him, and also Velma Dinkley and Shaggy Rogers, who he doesn't know except for when he sees them get bullied or teased by his friends on the football team. For their project they have to study a 18th century portrait that holds a dark secret that will be the start of events that will forever change not only Fred's but everyone else's lives.

What's the "Vertigun" supposed to do? Shoot beams that causes Vertigo?

Let me guess. He's voiced by Frank Welker, isn't he?

Is his father still The Freak in this version? I know he is in mine, and I think I'm going to make him even worse as a parent than his Mystery Incorporated self.

I think he might be in my version. But here the Freak will be a nightmare being like Freddy Krueger who takes over Mr. Jones' body when he falls asleep. Mr. Jones won't be a bad parent like before but he will be guilty of not paying enough attention to his son and letting work take over most of his life.

I like the idea of him being slightly more redeemable, though I personally think that making the guy as disgustingly evil as possible leads to more interesting character development for Fred. As for the supernatural factor, here's a hint, my version of this character is Hellishly evil.
(Seriously, I might make this guy even more twisted than my AU Kevin 11'000)

That would lead to a pretty good confrontation between father and son. So I'm guessing from that hint that Mr. Jones might be the Devil ?
(That sounds awesome)

Yep. That's what I'm looking forward to the most when it comes to his character. As for your guess, you're close. He's an...associate of the Devil/Satan/Whatever he's calling himself this week.
(Thanks)

...I'm just calling him Larry. If he won't settle on a name then I'll give him one myself.
(In all seriousness, thank you for actually tracking down these names. It will be quite helpful for when I get round to writing a different Mystery Incorporated villain, as he is also a servant to Satan and will ramble quite a bit about him)

*Snicker* Sorry every time I hear just him Larry or Just call me Larry, I think of part of this spoof youtu.be/H8pB1zRguAg?t=6m14s
(Glad to help, as much I probably shouldn't say it, it was kinda fun looking up all these different names for Satan. That villain sounds interesting.

As someone who was never that big a fan of the Matrix movies, I thoroughly enjoyed that clip.
(Hey, I look up a lot of stuff involving religion and mythology all the time, it is rather interesting to look into, especially Norse Mythology. For example, Loki was impregnated in the form of a female horse and birthed a foal that grew up into the horse that Odin rides into battle.)
(Thanks, I like to think that'll make the villain interesting, as the monster only appeared once in the show)

I do too, I can always count on that skit to still make me laugh my ass off.
(Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that story, every mythology has that one WTF story and this is that one for Norse.)
(You're welcome, yeah, it would of been great to see the freak return)

Yeah, though I see that one as particularly odd. Either way, mythology, folklore and cryptids are really interesting, even if it does get...weird (There is a cryptid from the Philippines that detaches its upper half and eats fetuses from pregnant women by inserting it tongue into them and pulling it out, and I wouldn't even put that in the top twenty weirdest cryptids).
(...I was actually talking about the Ghost Girl there, but yeah, the return of The Freak would of been cool too)

Yikes, that is the freakiest cryptid I've ever heard of
Oh my bad, yeah I'd like to see her return. I actually have her as part of my Scooby Doo universe as the now undead daughter of The Creeper.

Danny-Buckle In reply to Zigwolf [2016-12-01 19:47:15 +0000 UTC]
The Philippines also has creepy trickster rapist horse-people and magic-wielders who live in termite mounds that make people critically ill if anything happens to their home. Yeah, the Philippines has some of the weirdest cryptids around.
Cool. I'm removing the whole "Daughter of The Creeper" aspect (His daughter is a protagonist in my version, though not for a long time) and instead taking elements from the Magic Gun from AtopTheFourthWall. Basically, she was sacrificed to the Evil Entity/Satan (Yeah, he is Satan in my version, and he will quite literally unleash hell upon earth) by The Freak (along with a few others who become important later on) and was reborn as one of his undead minions. Her parents are unknown, though she at one point does ramble on about the coldness of the streets at winter, suggesting that she was homeless before Fred Jones Senior found her, took her in, cared for her and then sacrificed her to his master (He just told the much younger Fred that his job included looking after children until he found a couple willing to adopt them).

Danny-Buckle In reply to Zigwolf [2016-12-05 16:11:13 +0000 UTC]
Yep, though I believe the trickster horse is mostly harmless, and the tales of rape are not nearly as well-known or reoccuring, so that isn't so bad (I'll likely just have those legends be turned into some sort of savage tribe of beings banished from the herd due to their horrific actions and personalities.
Thank you.

I like how you took that silly "traps" thing from SDMI and made it sound really badass. Then again, it is kinda a badass concept, but with how ditzy he acted it couldn't live up to its full potential. And before you ask, I didn't get very far in SDMI simply because the forced romance plots were getting kinda annoying.

Zigwolf In reply to PrimeKage [2014-05-04 02:12:10 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I get ya. I like how traps were more explained in SDMI but I also hated how it became such an obsession for Fred. Really knocked down my liking for him. The forced romance also irked me, especially because I liked Shaggy and Velma as a couple but them and Scooby had to be stupid about the entire thing and like I said before Fred's trap obsession which I liked except for when it was all he talked about and that ruined a lot of him and Daphne's dating life. It's weird how cartoons can't get romance (especially teen romance right) and that ends up dragging the whole show down. How far did you get before you stopped ?

PrimeKage In reply to Zigwolf [2014-05-04 02:37:02 +0000 UTC]
I don't remember how far I got into it, but I didn't make it to the first season finale. In fact, I don't remember much aside from the jokes being unfunny, Fred being annoying as hell, and the universe being much less realistic than other Scooby Doo incarnations for the sake of comedy (like that episode where apparently gators came up from springs like oil, wtf?)
I think my main problem with the ShaggyxVelma romance actually stemmed from how much I loved Scooby Doo and the Alien Invaders as a kid. I still kinda ship Scooby and Shaggy with their girlfriends from that movie

Zigwolf In reply to PrimeKage [2014-05-04 03:12:52 +0000 UTC]
Oh I get it. Yeah the first season has its faults but the second season is in my opinion better. The romance is downplayed more (except for a small one sided thing with Scooby Doo and another dog), It's way more serious in a good way than season one (even has some deaths of major/minor characters in the season finale). It's even showed that the Blue Falcon and Dyno Mutt, Sealab 2020, and Johnny Quest shows are apart of the SDMI universe. Even the series finale is a real treat to anyone who loved the original Scooby Doo, Where Are You. The only small bad thing is the second season starts off a little bit like season one for a few episodes but after that it really gets good.
