Description The shadow of Saint Nicolas. The taker of hope. The bringer of misery to all who are greedy and spread hate during the holidays.

(After seeing Krampus yesterday, I knew I had to draw this ASAP. Great movie, I definitely recommend you see it.)

Krampus' origin's for the Havoc Days and Monstrosities universe is that he was a demon of hell. Residing in the circle of greed, Krampus escaped from that underworld when the dark ages started and many demons escaped into the world. He emerged in Germany during the winter and started terrorizing everyone, especially those who take without need and bring hate and anger to those around them. His reign of terror would go on for a century before an enemy to Krampus would appear. Known as a Saint, Nicolas Klaus was a warrior fighting against the darkness and came to Germany to stop this demon. Fighting Krampus was of little effect, because he fed off the greed and hate, he was virtually undefeatable. Though Saint Nicolas found that best way to fight against greed and hate was to go to houses during Christ's Mass and leave gifts, spreading generosity and cheer to the people and giving them hope. With the strength of the people's hope, Saint Nick easily defeated Krampus and injured him so harshly that he would spend the next three seasons recovering.

For centuries, Saint Nick and Krampus would fight each other for the decision of whether the children of the world would taken to hell for their greed or continue living so they can show their generosity. This went on til their most monumental fight opened a portal to another world and they fell into it. After their disappearance, they both became figures of myth to the people of the world as more time went on. In reality Saint Nicolas is another world with other Holiday Figures and leads them to make sure our world will always have holidays. During Christmas, Krampus always tries to find a way back to our world but Saint Nicolas is always at the gateway ready to keep Krampus from returning, even if it means defending people who don't believe in him anymore.

Krampus is supernaturally strong and fast, he is able to see the evil in people and with that knows who to go after. With his chain hook, Krampus grabs his victims with it and drags them to hell. Just like the new movie, this Krampus has dark elves and demonic toys ready to cause terror when they return to our world. The chains all over Krampus represent his former imprisonment in hell and his current imprisonment in the Other World and their sound is an early warning sign of his arrival just like sleigh bells are an early sign of Saint Nick's arrival.

Krampus has faced off against Req and The Monstrosities multiple times and if you want to see the characters for those, here are the galleries

Don't know why I love this monster so well, mayeb because I feel Santa should be a little more...tougher. Ad if someone were to whip the naughty children in a sack, maybe they'd not grow up to be the really bad ones?

Either way, he's a intriguing concept and character.

And you have REALLY captured his brilliance.

And there's a 'Lady Krampus' to punish Krampus, if he goes too far in puishing the children. Where as she punishes men who cheat, abuse, or are greedy.

Well then you're going to love my version of Santa. I got some Viking warrior thrown into his design.

Thanks.

I like that idea. Makes me think there's also a kid Krampus who punishes mothers who abuse and treat their children badly.

Oh ok. I was wondering if you meant we needed a Viking santa or a Krampus Kid. I think it would be good to show a story where Kid Krampus terrorizes two parents who treat their kids bad during Christmas.

This is awesome! I always loved the darker side of the holidays (the bright, cheery side is always, but I like a different picture of things), and this definetly brings it out. I can only assume that Saint Nicholas might follow soon?

Thanks. Yes, Saint Nick is next and he'll be more like a Viking warrior for this and a bit of this Santa scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/583… thrown into the mix.

Let me take a wild guess; he's a villain, right? I'm just asking from what the discription and the fact that SAnta has to keep him away.

Of course...the minue the big scary thing s introduced, he's automatically evil.

WEll, that makes one difference between your take and the take me and my friends have in Grimmwoods. Before yo ask, Grimmwoods is basically an action/fantasy story about heroes from our world that are decendents or reincarntions of famous figures in folk lore and fairy tales going to the world whre all the characters of fairy tales exist, known as 'Grimmwoods'. There, on the four corners, there are the guardians. The Guardian of the NOrth, in the country of Nordenpole, is the spirit of Christmas himself and Norse-born fighter, Saint Nick himself, Santa.

Unlike al ot of common protrayals of the monsterous KRampus, the Krampus is actually more of an anti-hero ally of the Jolly Toymaker. He is only out for extreme cases or for when a battle needs an wildcard. The Krampus is the guardian of the Nordenpole mountains and of sant's Workshop. If you were gonna mess with Santa, he was gonna mess you up fast.

Like your take, he senses evil but won't go after someone for something minor. He only goes against those who he sees as 'pure evil'. HE is a force for good. a DArk force yes, but he is still technically a good guy. He's just less moral than Santa and is more willing to be more destructive, but isn't 100% bad. he just not as forgiving as Santa, who's this boisterous bruiser in battle but he's a really nice guy who would rather give gifts than hurt people if he can help it. The Krampus is basically the living embodiment of 'Scare them Straight'.

Zigwolf In reply to Shadow-DJ [2015-12-10 06:56:04 +0000 UTC]

Well it's really hard to get an intimidating villain's look across unless he's big and scary.

Sounds like a cool idea.

Pretty good with your take on Krampus, but it's just not the kind of character I could see myself liking. I don't hate it or think it's a bad idea. I'm just tired of the whole "turn the villain into a good guy cliché" that's been happening to a few villains over the past few years.

Shadow-DJ In reply to Zigwolf [2015-12-10 21:50:53 +0000 UTC]

Lets think about it like this:

The Krampus was a partner for Santa for awhi;e. A guy who rode on the sleigh as well in a lot of european countries. He's not just some 'villain turned good', he's been an anti-hero longer than a villain. It's just that BECAUSE he looks monsterous, he is suddenly a bad guy.

Zigwolf In reply to Shadow-DJ [2015-12-11 06:12:37 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if I agree about him being a villain longer than he's been an anti hero, he started out on his own and was later teamed up with Santa in the 17th
century. I just don't want to see yet another good guy holiday icon, we already have too many of those. It would make for interesting characters if we have antithesis characters to the holidays to show the opposing or darker side of those holidays, like a black cat icon for St. Patrick's day. Also (not knocking down your idea) it takes away something from Santa and Krampus teaming up together, why would Santa bring around a creature that's sole purpose is to punish bad people ? Also just having Krampus scare people straight makes me wonder how he can become a true symbol of fear ? The regular Krampus shows why he's one to fear because he will either eat bad children, whip them, or drag them to hell. Finally, he's a demon, he's suppose to look monstrous, he's made of pure evil, they go hand in hand, one is not the cause of the other.

Shadow-DJ In reply to Zigwolf [2015-12-11 07:37:44 +0000 UTC]

Krampus goes with. Santa, but he goes on his own runs. Santa does his usual thing, but Krampus attacks evil people, young and old.

Plus he's not "good" or "bad"m that's why he's an Anti -Hero; he's under Santa's payroll. He's a hunter, not a bringer of good cheer. Heck, he sees the. Naughty list as a Hit list. It just depends on how bad

Your description makes me think of the Santa who appeared on Mystery Science Theater 3000. "Guess again, Devil! I'm here to kick ass and eat candy canes, and I'm all out of candy canes!"
