My reimagining of the Saffron City Psychic Gym Leader, Sabrina.

  The Delphi Family always specialized in the growing and handling of psychic pokemon in their secret labs and in their gym. Harold Delphi and his wife, Winifred, wanted to take things a step further and try to use psychic energy from Pokemon to bring out psychic abilities in humans.

  Their first 10 test subjects of psychic enhancement died from extreme mental stress. The couple was about to give up when they noticed a talented gift in their own daughter, Sabrina, who could make objects levitate with her mind. They, without care, put their own 6 year old daughter through rigorous psychic enhancements in order to get results and they ended up breaking something inside of the little girl. To make it through what she perceived as torture, her mind broke itself apart and stored parts away in an organized fashion and suppressed many of her emotions. When Sabrina was 14, she'd had enough and broke out of her mental and physical restraints, before she unleashed a psychic wave that killed her mother and everyone else, leaving nothing left of them but their clothes. Harold survived the attack because of his recent psychic enhancement, but was left in a coma. With no one left in the gym, Sabrina closed its doors indefinitely. Luckily, Sabrina wasn't left totally alone, the many Psychic pokemon in the labs that were also experimented on came to Sabrina's aid in this trying time for her. With what little emotions she had left, Sabrina was comforted by the Pokemon as they took care of her. A Mr. Mime and Jynx couple became surrogate parents for Sabrina and a Drowzee helped calm Sabrina from nightmares of her past experiences. Dream Eater made quick work of that, even though Sabrina's nightmares tasted like sweaty gym socks with Tabasco sauce.

  Looking to avoid people coming through and asking questions, Sabrina tried an ability she only recently mastered, Psychic Illusions. She could make people see and hear a person not in front of them and using her telekinesis, she could make the illusions interact with other objects, but Sabrina still needed to make sure that no one touched her illusions or else she would be found out. Sabrina doesn't just use these illusions to create a false version of her father, she uses them to create a false appearance of herself. One that people would find friendly, not realizing that underneath it, was her true self, one that deep down was scared and forced to go through stuff no person, let alone a child should ever go through.

   When Ash comes around to challenge Sabrina, he barely wins because of Sabrina's psychic link to her pokemon that makes them hard to beat. It was thanks to Ash's Haunter that he won. No psychic attack could phase the ghost and its taunting was bringing out feelings that Sabrina thought she had buried, anger and frustration. After losing, Sabrina unleashed a psychic attack and grabbed Ash with her telekinesis before preparing to overload his mind, then she came across a cherished memory of Ash's, the first birthday he had without his dad. Delia did so much planning and in the end everything went wrong and Delia broke down crying. Little Ash took a part of his ruined cake and a candle and presented it to his mom with a smile on his face and it brought happiness to Delia. They went out to a nearby pond with one of Ash's presents, a RC model of the S.S. Anne cruise ship and played with it til the late hours of the night. This memory of her opponent awakened something in Sabrina and she started to feeling all the emotions she suppressed and broke down crying for the first time in years. After this ordeal, the authorities were alerted to secret psychic laboratory, which was shut down along with the gym for the time being. Before leaving, Sabrina gave Ash two objects, the Marsh Badge and she also grabbed a Twisted Spoon and telekinetically molded it into a metallic cuff, a special thanks to him for giving her the gift of feeling all of her emotions again. Sabrina would go to a special facility for therapy and to focus her immense abilities into something better.

For Sabrina's look, I wanted to stray away from her more traditional look and really make her look like she's been through alot of human testing, so the skin tight test suit and buzz cut hair was made to get that point across.
