Haven't been drawing much lately, so last night I decided to do some sketches and since the Power Rangers movie came out over the weekend, I thought it would be good to redesign some villains like I did with Lord ZeddFor Rita, I went for a look that combined her original and 2017 designs and modernized them to a certain degree.
For Goldar, I went for a more cat warrior look to him and got rid of some elements of his original design with the idea that less is more.
For Scorpina, I nixed her human look, because I'm not a fan of human looking aliens and I made her design match her name with a more scorpion appearance.
For Finster, I didn't go too far away from his original design, but I changed it up to make him have a "tired" look since Rita is working him 24/7 to develop new monsters for her.
For Squat, I nixed the biker look and just decided to make him look tougher and sport a "puffer fish" set of spikes on his face.
For Baboo, I didn't go too far from his original look but I decided to improve his original features to make him look more alien.

The fangs, nobody ever remembers the fangs.
(If you're not sure what I'm talking about, in the source footage, Baboo is a vampire. But he's not exactly very GOOD at being a vampire, being too softhearted or clumsy or stupid to really get any blood. Zyuranger was one of the first Sentai with more comedic villains, which certainly helped in the translation to Power Rangers)
As for Finster... you've pretty much nailed his Sentai character. In Zyuranger, Puripurikan (Finster's Sentai name) was a tad grumpier than in Power Rangers; he took pride in his work and constantly grumbled that Witch Bandora was always ordering new monsters. ((Also if you can't tell from the name, he's a leprechaun))

Well I don't care which villains you choose to do all I know it will be great to see you take on the villains and even a few monsters since there is no way you can do every single monster like you said to someone else who asked you about the monsters.

I'm not a fan of human looking aliens either, i'm fine with humanOID so that's why i strongly prefer your Scorpina over the show's frankly lazily designed one.

Yeah, like this I'm fine with vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/t… but I can't really stand aliens that look virtually identical to us but with blue or red skin, or the look like us but they have powers because they're aliens. Like you said, it comes off as lazy. It's especially annoying when cartoons do this, you're only limited by your imagination in animation and to make human looking aliens is like saying "we put no effort into this"

It's one of the reasons why i don't like the appearance of the new Rita, i think Elizabeth Banks does a good job at PLAYING Rita but she doesn't look a thing like our favorite cone-titted space witch.

I'd be in favor of a look that's reminiscent of the old Rita design, but I wouldn't want it to look entirely like her old appearance.

Don't get me wrong. The one in the link is awesome, but I want a somewhat classic witch look to my version of Rita. I could still use that concept art for something else though. Maybe a battle armor that Rita has underneath her clothes when she needs to fight.

One thing I do like about the movie Rita is that she was a former Power Ranger herself, how else would she possess a power coin?

Well it was never stated that those characters were aliens. I can forgive live action to a certain degree for human looking aliens because they're limited by their makeup budget, so they have to work with what they can do. But they should at least put some effort into it and not just stick some horns or purple paint on a person and call them an alien.

I didn't notice it myself until I read a Harry Potter/MMPR fic. Weird as Hell, but damn if it ain't well written. And the rivalry between Jason and Harry, BROTHER!
