First up is the Queen of the Seamals and one her subjects, Merna. They reside in the Grand Lake which houses the Submerged Ruins (Aquatic Ruin Zone). Though they rarely interact with surface creatures, The Queen and Merna are happy to help Sonic retrieve the Chaos Emerald from the ruins if it means Robotnik's robots will leave their waters.

Next is Spencer Lunkadore or Spelunk as his fellow miners call him. This mole is one of the more experienced miners on the job and they search for many precious stones in the Mystic Caverns (Mystic Cave Zone) and their luck really turns around when they unearth a Chaos Emerald, although this turnaround on their luck is a bad one as Robotnik has detected the emerald and sent his driller bots to collect it, resulting in many moles caught in cave-ins and leaving Spelunk as the only one left. He'll need help from Sonic and Tails in order to stop Robotnik and save his fellow moles.

Next is Cameron Clutch O'Possum, famed casino owner who resides in the city of Los Fortuna (Casino Night Zone). Many know him as the successful casino mogul, but only a rare few know his true identity as a crime boss. The truth of his activities will come to light when an underage hedgehog and fox enter his casino to collect an emerald that was on one of the most magnificent statues on the casino floor. Their attempts to get it bring out Clutch's criminal henchmen and cause all kinds of destruction that bring down walls and reveal crimes such as forgery and illegal weapons transporting.

Finally, there is Helen Birnbaum, daughter of the Metropolis (Metropolis Zone) mayor. Though many might think that being bound to a whellchair would hinder Helen, she is a very smart, very resourceful girl and loves going fast as she's built her own cart which she uses to go around the city. On a school trip to the Metropolis City Museum, robots descend on the building, looking for something. When she sees that they're looking for a emerald on display, Helen creates a distraction and sneaks the emerald away and meets Sonic and Tails during her escape. The starts one of the best moments of Helen's life as she helps the duo run through the city and find ways to defeat their robotic pursuers.
