The distant drone of pirate jets has her on her feet in an instant, reaching for weapons and determination at the same time. Russel stops in the water, steady as a stone pillar anchored to the ocean floor.

"They're comin'," he says as the engines get closer, louder. His voice reverberates up through her boot soles like a small earthquake.

"I'll protect you," Noodle whispers, but her voice is stolen by the wind and the crashing waves and Russel doesn't hear.

This one came out pretty darned well, if I do say so myself. Not perfect, but heck, that's a pretty sunset painting if I ever saw one.

I am really loving my Sakura Micron inking pen. The 005 size is the answer to all the problems in my life. Well, maybe not all of them. Most of them, though! All the ones involving very thin, precise lines, anyway.
