Speed painting. 4 hours. Photoshop & intuos2 tablet. (trust me, 4 hours is a speed painting for me)--------------------------
I had this idea very quickly and wanted to get it down as soon as possible. Unfortunately this meant really working it up quickly to make it work. However, as i roughed it up it became more and more apparent that the speed style actually suited it. The roughness kinda works and its another new style (kinda) for me
I think the image nicely portrays what I'm trying to get across
hopefully no need for explanation on the imagery on this piece

its interesting that people are seeing humour in this. I'll let you into a secret:
my work is a window into my soul, none more than this. This is how I feel right now, that I am being pulled along a conveyor unable to stop the push forward, even if I turn and run backwards, i only stay still. In front of me is a looming black hole which has no bottom to it and no visible end. I know that at some stage I have to jump into it to fix things or start a new lfe or whatever, as conveyed by the bright neon sign saying everything will be ok. call it fucked up, but this is my reality right now. I shant go into the reasons why its like this, only that I had such a strong image of it all and this was the result.

For my part it was "gallows humor"; that last sardonic laugh before the trapdoor opens and the rope snaps taut. The kind of laugh that comes from the back of a dry mouth's throat. Lately, my life has also been chaotic and feeling as though I'm swept along with the debris, rather than having any control over my direction. I guess your black hole struck a chord within my thoughts this morning; I'm certain I heard something resonate.
I hope your neon sign is right, and that the hole is merely a portal to better things, but on this dreary foggy morning, I can only see the abyss.

yep, I know exactly what its about. my work is always a window to my soul, this mor than ever. Quite a cathartic process tho, I feel a lot better now
