Part 6 of the Suave Poison and Little Firecrackers series!

Braig slowly pushed himself up as he noticed Jasper swaying side to side, like he'd been hit by an invisible force. He stumbled back from  Suri , half tripping over his own legs as he tried to stabilise himself and failed.

The cheetah allowed a wide smile to spread over his face.

"Gotcha~"

Suri bolted from under his paw as Jasper released her, sprinting towards Harriet , who was glaring, winded and aching, in the spot she had been thrown still. Her eyes were wild and her teeth were bared. Suri was relieved by that. Just a little. If she had fighting spirit despite her leg, then she was okay.

She hoped.

Braig pulled himself to his feet, crimson having already soaked his cheek and his neck from his own deep wound. He didn't seem to care, though. He was zeroed in on Jasper, eyes cold and dark. The eyes of a killer.

"You wont last long now, Hunter..." he rumbled, taking a few small steps closer to him. "Just lay down and let it happen."

Jasper did no such thing. He had to get away from this creature. Whatever he'd done, it had to be-

"The scratches.." he slurred.

Braig's sharp toothed smile grew wider in answer.

Jasper had to get back to his owner. To the City. Before whatever he'd put on his claws, whatever poison this was, grew worse. He felt sick. He felt dizzy. He was seeing double.

But he had to run.

Turning tail, he clumsily avoided a tree, clipping his shoulder off of it as he sprinted head long into the woods - and like a tiger shark after a wounded seal, Braig followed, hot on his heels. The both of them disappeared into the trees, leaving a trail of blood in their wake, mostly via Braig.

Harri and Suri watched them go, their ears back. Harriet was obviously hiding her pain, and Suri wasn't having any of it. She wanted to follow after them, and Suri did too, but... their injuries wouldn't allow it. Braigs wouldn't have either, but she doubted he would've listened even if she'd asked him to come back.

He'd be back.

Hopefully with news of the vile Hunter's death.

She just also hoped that he did it before he bled out. Braig hadn't looked in the best of shapes before he'd vanished.

"Come on," Suri murmured to Harriet, finally turning away from the swaying ferns and red spattered clearing where the battle had taken place only moments before.

"Lets go home."
