This pic started the whole Gainax vs Capcom gallery I've been working on for the past year.I came up with this idea...actually, do I need to tell you? I mean look at it. I saw Tron Bonne, and thought, hang on, that's kind of like Simon's Lagann...but which is better, Tron Bonne & Gustaff or Simon & Lagann? There's only one way to find out...FIIIIIIIIIIGHT!
Took me 5 hours from pencil sketch to upload.
[edit 31/2/15: As this was the first entry in the Gainax vs Capcom gallery, I've since looked back at it and grown more and more unhappy with the shading and highlighting. So I have improved it. The original lines and flattened colours are the same, just the shading and highlights have been altered. Oh, and I gave Simon shorts.]

By the way, there's only one thing missing there: the pig-mole (I think his name is Boota). Mostly because of the Servbot there, cheering up Bonne. I'd imagine Boota doing the same thing but for Simon. :3 But it still looks cool.

That's actually a good point...I've only just watched the entire series there at Christmas, and saw how important Boota actually is, so I may update it lol.

Very cool picture. Simon would easily win this fight though. One small problem I noticed though... Simon... Doesn't look like he's wearing any pants. I know he wears shorts, and I know his jacket is kinda in the way, but it looks weird. Mind you, I don't think the lack of shorts would in any way stop him from kicking Tron's ass up and down the block!

He doesn't have the Gurren here though, just the Lagann. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, as a seperate entity, is on my list, and will face off against someone of equal stature in the Capcom universe. It will be my ultimate (or penultimate) Gainax vs Capcom picture.

yeah i know the Gurren is another robot, i like the pic and i like the idea. and i said that about the Gurren Lagann because when Kamina died the Gurren Lagann its all for simon, when not at all but he can control the Gurren Lagann only with the Lagann. i like the idea about Gainax vs Capcom, its a great idea

Hmm... I actually thought of this, too.
- Gainax has Neon Genesis Evangelion, Capcom has Cyberbots: Full Madness.
- I'm still trying to figure out others, but I only have the Mega Man series against Gurren Lagann in my mind.
- Panty and Stocking would go against Dante and Vergil. I also thought about Scanty and Kneesocks, and their rivals would be Morrigan and Lilith. (demons sisters vs. demon sisters).
- FLCL... well, I can't seem to find someone to go against Haruko. o.O Any ideas?
I only know a few of Gainax's series. Need to check out the others.

I'm defo doing the Panty and Stocking against Dante and Vergil, it's like they were destined to be pit against each other.
As for Evangelion...I've already started an Asuka character for MUGEN (which can be found here [link] ), so a Capcom equivelant of Asuka would be...Karin, maybe?

Yup, that Karin. I'm having trouble thinking of another stroppy cocky Capcom character that's an Asuka equivelant, other than Tron Bonne.
And as for Panty...I'm imagining her post-coitus with Dante, and she finds herself armed with a rocket launcher

Well, if you think that Karin is a good choise, then go for it. When I do that sort of thing, I always try to find similiarities (personality, etc...) to fit against the other.
You know... besides Devil May Cry series (to go against Panty & Stocking), I was also thinking about Chaos Legion (since that game is similiar to DMC and it has sorts of look-a-like enemies and all).
In fact, I'm making a list of playable characters for both sides (Gainax vs. Capcom), and I still don't know if there should be 2 Devil May Cry characters or just 1 (along with 1 from Chaos Legion). I find that game so underrated and it'd definitely need someone to represent the series in a cross-over.

I'm trying to do the same in regards to the pairing off similar characters. Capcom characters I'd like to do are Red Arremer/Firebrand vs Kaworu/Tabris, and Regina (Dino Crisis) vs...hmmm. There's plenty of dinosaur stuff on Capcom's side, not much on Gainax's.
Oooooh, just thought of a face-off...Lord Raptor/Zabel/Zarock could have a guitar face off against Haruko Haruhara from FLCL...I'm doing THAT one

That one sounds interesting. Both characters have a guitar, they would end up challenging each other.
