My first real watercolor painting. This was done in my independent study course. The barnacles were a pain in the kiester........I have also found that watercolors are really fun, apparantly my teacher was amused because I don't paint with them like "traditional watercolors" since I don't use the transparency in obvious ways. I was never good at keeping colors faint (as they often are with watercolors) Though I did take advantage of layering transparencies along with other special effects. Such as salt and spraying it by flicking a paint-soaked toothbrush

I was really surprised when i read this was watercolor. You really have a unique style with watercolors.

Thanks!! Actually my teacher did her normal little smile and "good job" I had another slightly get on my case for it looking too much like an oil painting o_0 But I'm glad you like it!

Great handle of chiaroscuro! Nice contrast, and lovely blending of the subject into the background. You have a great eye for the use of color!
