Description "Oh for fuck's sake!"
Caman huffed and shouldered his claymore.

So.... Actually I'm partial with this pic. I like how Sorilkad turned out, but poor Caman's face is so fucked up, I came close to abandon it. But here we are

I think it's great, the shading's all well done in :3
You have a thing for line thickness which is great in comic styles!

Thank you
Funny that you mention the line thickness... I thought about to try and make them thinner.

It depends on the look you're going for, typically finding styles with such shading and line thickness is a little harder.
You could alter the lines with colours instead of just 1 black, such as browns, dark blues for skin tone, etc for that definition you're going for
Gradually it'll blend together and form a sort of realism.

Notice here for example, the lines aren't even black in certain lighter areas. The effect is enhanced with colour and shape, which gives forms and texture (e.g. the scarf shading)

Whereas here, there's texture and blending, but retains some of its original line thickness. It's like a developed version of the first example, a hybrid of comic and styled definition, without many complex colours which gives it such a charm.

And this, at first glance, appears very shapely and colourful because of the way the image builds and works together to create a harmonious feel. Its textures are developed around a centre focus, the subject matter is focused and defined better than the surrounding others in a depth-of-field thing. Its textures in its most defined areas are simple and based on shape and colour (e.g. the scales on the head) before building on the tonal values.
This is more like the beginning of a realism style, in the way it was achieved, and I believe you could achieve something like this with time

Wow thank you. That's a lot of detailed input and should help me refine the style. Nicely explained.

The first thing I'll most likely change are my tools. Normally I use a normal fineliner for all...and then spend couple of hours to clean the outlines up. I ordered a couple of liners with different tips and hope to get better results with the details, like eyes and such....IF they arrive...

Thank you for appreciating it and seeing it from a learning perspective

Oh it's good to experiment with tools especially, to give rise to new effects. Hope they'll arrive soon, I love having a massive arsenal of materials to work with! Every new medium is a challenge to me to make it work, and hopefully find a new domain to get into. But with practice, it will eventually become manageable once I whip myself into shape for it :3

Now, what kind of "artist" would I be to not appreciate and heed advice given by fellow artists? Probably a bad one You know how my style has already evolved over the years, thanks to people like you.

Hope they will arrive...waiting for about 3 weeks now. At least Gimp's not giving me troubles any longer

I love your sight on things and you are absolutely right. It's the challenge that makes us better. To accept defeat yet try again and again until we are satisfied. Please whip yourself in shape.
And I love your pastel art.

Oh lots of people don't take too kindly to criticism and some feedback, I can understand it gets a little frustrating at first because I once was that sort of character xD I got mad at those "supposedly better" artists who thought they knew everything that was right and wrong about what I did, without understanding why I did it and its message.
But now I see that if anyone had ever been passionate about art for its medium and expression, they would know that the knowledge of mastery and improvement would be above all else.
And it is rare to find someone who won't rip into me and lecture me about it, so I am grateful to have people who want to learn xD

3 weeks for a couple of pens? What's the big holdup, overseas shipping?xD
I'm glad, Gimp seems to be among those programs with so many issues. I have to admit, I'm eager to test out physical art mediums but I never thought about digital mediums. Perhaps I ought to try different programs to expand my digital arsenal.

Oh a lot of things in life take effort and discipline, and my kind of discipline involves not eating for an entire day and ploughing through work like a work horse. With art, it's a lot of the same but with more understanding and focus xD
Thank you for your support and kind words! I hope to achieve the zenith of my potential xD

You know, art is way to tell a story. Sometimes a picture can express something words cannot. And to have a mentor to betters the way of storytelling? That's the best what could happen. And I am immensely grateful that there are still kind souls out there who want to help and share. That's rare aswell.

Oh you will. You have the right mindset. And if you ever should not feel up to the task, I will gladly remind you

Yeah... Oversea shipping and I don't know... from the four items i ordered only one has arrived so far. But I'm absolutely happy with the one item, it's a lovely wind chime.

I've tried a couple of different programs, and Gimp has the best results so far. Well...I still stick to coloring with a mouse...maybe one day I'll get myself a drawing tablet and have some fun with it. Try it out. If you don't like what you are doing, you can just delete it....or parts of it. It's funny
