This is my entry for the final round of 's contest; we had to draw an OC. This took 9 hours which is a little slower than usual... but worth it. 8U

In this case, I technically MS Painted two, but one cannot simply be without the other in this case. :'D This is Shay and her Chiroverma, named Oatmeal.

In a post-apocalyptic Earth, humans are caged up in quarantined cities protected by powerful force fields... to defends against the constant threat of lingering radioactivity emanating from the outside, desolate landscape that used to be lush forests and widespread nature. Humans have no one to blame but themselves... the nuclear wars over politics, religion, and cultural conflicts seemed like a good idea at a time for each to attempt to establish dominion over the planet as the superior human kind... but in reality, no human is superior when the majority of humans consent to the destruction of the Earth... their home... and watch as nuclear war engulfs the Earth noxious fumes and deadly chemicals. And how karma has come back to haunt them.

But despite this horrific conclusion to the comparably carefree portion of human history, as usual, life has found a way... even through heavy genetic tampering and mutations. One species of mammals has been especially infamous for being an especially hardy creature, despite its originally small size. It can survive some of the most harsh and unforgiving conditions, reproduce at remarkable rates, and adapt to a wide variety of situations. That creature, of course, is the rat. Rats have evolved and split into several subspecies, some of which are determined to be a completely separate species from their cousin, the rat, because of their heavy mutations and behavioral tendencies.

The Chiroverma is a variation that developed aspects of the common bat, namely its ability to fly. However genetic mutations have put it on par with other quickly evolving species, forcing the Chiroverma to become an enlarged and intelligent species to compete with other predators.

But despite this cruel and unusual world that humans have come to abandon out of survival and fear, the occasional daring individual ventures into the unknown... never to return.

Until now, and she discovers that this new world isn't as dreadful as humans have come to think. In fact, it has a certain cruel beauty. Always has... and always will.
