I had a vision of this image in my mind for a long time. It's from a story that I am working on right now. I am a big fan of any architecture that is associated with bodies of water. I started to look at a lot of Italian architecture to do this matte concept.I also entered a contest on this subject which was hosted by Bobby Chiu(Alice in wonderland concept artist) and judged by Dylan Cole(Avatar concept art director). Due to lack of time, it had a lot of flaws but I still managed to win it.
. After that, I worked on it for a day to finish it off. It was 100% completed in Photoshop with no use of 3D.it has completed in a time period of 3 days. My thanks to Dylan Cole and Bobby Chiu for the contest.(Photoshop.3010 pixels wide)

I could just stare at this for minutes and minutes cause it's so dreamy yet looks so real and pretty inviting. What a wonderful place: I'd sure like to visit a place like that. Looking at the steamboats and the people, I realize how huge those buildings must be. The flock of birds flying into the open sky adds a really nice touch too.

I adore the detail in this picture. I especially like both beautiful and gritty. You can tell that the water brushes against the wall, and the smog from the boats looks like smog.
