It does So to have a character generated and then rigged and then made to do a simple loop would stillb e a lot of work. Much more than traditional animation methods (for a 3 second walking loop or something). Thanks for the info!

well.. i don't have re-create the character next time I will animate him while with traditional 2D works you have to create it every time. with 3d ones the character is created other parts take less time. essentially it probably takes the same time... as I know many 2D movies that took as long to create as the 3D ones.

Dude, THAT is impressive. Such an awesome looking model moving around is so fun to watch! I just love your work!!!

If you want a tiny critique, it looks like there is some jittering happening on the wrist joint on the left sub-arm (the one that is curled up). Also, if you want it to feel heavier, then you've got to add some greater impact at each step when the hips rest their weight on the newly planted leg. You'll see it in secondary motion traveling from the hip all the way up the spine. Now that you've got the overall motion down good, adding this should be just a small tweak. If you wanted to take it a step further, you could animate all the secondary animations in the wires and cables that dangle but that's only if you are going for super realism.

The detail in the model and rig are astounding though! It's awesome to see how it actually works! I know that took a lot of effort and I appreciate the amazing job you did!

feedback like this is the reason I post my work online. great critiques... the jitter on the arms I know about. i got lazy.
the weight this is true.. got to work on that.. but the wires are not flexible enough. in the movie they were not he jiggling type. too stiff.. will be hard to notice too unless there is a real close up...

good comment. plz come again!

Cool. I'm glad you liked the critique. You are probably right about the wires, I don't remember them moving much in the movie either.

Sure sure... you can send me some PNGs at my Richard.Base@GMail.com along
with some wicked ideas or something.
Also... you can do a webcomic out of this. The bot looks really cool in motion.

Wow bro... This's fantastic!!!!! I did something similar at my 15 years old... Do you know the video game "Weapon Lord? It's a Sega Genesis game [link] at 00:50 secs you will see the character I used to play the game. Korn, his name. I used to copy from the TV all his movements, pausing a lot, like you did with this amazing piece you did... Incredible amazing!!!!

zoomzoom In reply to JoKeR0720 [2008-07-30 20:26:10 +0000 UTC]

what do you think about the animation. any critiques from one animator to another?
i am not happy about some things. one leg snaps too much i think.. I also wanted to make more secondary motion on the additional arms, but i don't think it came out any good.

what do you think?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Amann7 In reply to zoomzoom [2009-01-06 02:02:58 +0000 UTC]

id like to add to this... i noticed the arm seems longer ont eh right the gun arm... even than in the movie... i noticed you made the bridge upper arm piece that connects in to the rotating arm pit area a tiny bit longer, which explains why the gun belf fees from a smaller cylinder it seems i swore it was fed from the area on teh back side of where teh sholder blade area would be ***

still its still the best thing out there.. please i meant it in no harmful intention

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

JoKeR0720 In reply to zoomzoom [2008-07-30 21:53:05 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think the body should probably move over the supporting leg a bit more. Right now it seems as though it would fall as soon as the other foot comes up. You could probably make this look good if you bend the upper-mid body more... Like the part that has that X on it.. I see it has 4 hydrolic pistons there, try and get more use out of them. I think I see some pops in the animation of the smaller arms (the folded ones). Other than that, I think it looks good, and I'd like to see it on a surface, and moving along it. That way I think I'd be able to see potential problems better

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zoomzoom In reply to JoKeR0720 [2008-07-31 00:39:32 +0000 UTC]

it does... i didn't want to move any more that that...it has a big upper torso and the way legs are it would look weird it he would move more. at least for this animation. i don't like to overdo it..
yep.. there are some animation pops for the arms.. tried to make them have the secondary effect for each step, but it didn't come out too good.

I know what you mean... but it just looks off balance to me. I'd have to see it in a full scene I guess.
