Description
A pair of Lilac-crowned Amazons (Amazona finschi) watch me cautiously from the canopy. Despite being called "Amazons", these wild birds live no where near South America. Instead, they are part of a growing feral population that has established itself in southern coastal California.Photo taken in Orange County, CA.

Interesting! We have invasive parrots here in South Africa also ... ring-necked parakeets, and lovebirds (pet-shop style breeds, not the natural ones) establishing a small colony here close to my home town.

Wow, I didn't know there were introduced parrots in South Africa! Do they cause problems with the native parrots?
