Description Looks like Sheldon Cooper was reincarnated as a Northern Elephant Seal (Mirounga angustirostris)!

Scenes like this were common in the colony , which at this time of year is composed mostly of subordinate males (except the little female up front) baring their numerous battle scars from fights with their own kind.  But notice the scarring on the seal at the upper right, I think those are the healed wounds of an attack from a Great White Shark!

Photo taken in San Luis Obispo, CA.

I'm starting to become very curious now...

What exactly do you do that allows you to take pictures of creatures all over the place? At first I assumed a more advanced zoo than the one I worked at, but this is clearly not the case...

I must know! <3

I wish I worked at a zoo!   These photos are just from my various travels over the past few years, both to zoos and various places around the United States, I try to make a point of getting a photo of every new species I see.

Wow, I find myself jealous nonetheless x3 Although I am privileged to have family living on game farms (I live in South Africa), I haven't had the opportunity to leave this country and see even more.

Well done nonetheless!

Thanks!  It must be pretty cool to have family living on game farms though, especially considering the sort of animals present in South Africa!

I won't lie, it actually is x3 But for me, game farms only house the larger animals safely, where as the rest of the country will always have the smaller ones roam about rather freely in most places. I usually like going just to go away from people XD

Still though, traveling as you do must certainly be an adventure! I still wish to be in your shoes regarding that >w<
