Do you ever look at someone and wonder, what is going on inside their head?

While I lose my mind trying to finish things, allow me to take a break before I lose my mind to present to you an experiment I'm actually somewhat proud of! My first true mixed media piece based on Disney - Pixar's newest hit.

Having seen Inside Out and obsessed over it until I could obsess no more, I took it upon myself to do my usual "draw something from an upcoming movie for synergy" thing. But this time, things were different. The movie inspired me to challenge my usual art style. I came up with the idea to experiment with blending traditional art and digital art together. I wanted to capture the "particle" feel to the emotions' skins and hair as best as I could. I really tried hard with my blending skills when it came to using my prismas, but I think it got to a point where I wanted it. After waiting months to get a computer again, I instantly took to drawing their clothing digitally to replicate the solid/extra detailed textures I saw in the movie. I repeated the same process with Bing Bong, whom I admittedly was going to draw by himself. But I figured it was a nice touch and he filled up the unneeded negative space. All I had to do was create the background and I had finished my experiment. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it actually worked! Whether or not it's effective or noticeable, I leave up to you.

As with any work, this particular piece was a learning experience. I learned what I could do digitally, traditionally and when it all comes together, it actually doesn't look all that bad. I must admit, I really like how Joy came out the best. Seeing her complete was when I knew I was on to something. Seeing them all come together like this really had me going though. I'm glad I went with this idea instead of my other ones. For once I can say I'm actually happy with this.

I really hope you like it. You wouldn't believe how long it took, even if I do think I can do better in the future.
