Description
Hi. So I'm in a remounted production of Hunchback again...and that made me want to finally put all these mental images to paper (and I do mean PAPER since I don't have the patience to digitize these right now. Thought they might help me practice shading too.)
Never actually done a sketchdump before. But I guess when you have so many drawing ideas in your head and you don't want to turn them all into full blown pieces, that's when you make something like this. Here are 8 little scenarios that I thought I'd draw out.
A New Kind of King: Yep, that's me in my Feast of Fools outfit from the 3rd production. Clopin doesn't really know what to make of it, but at least he's polite about it.
Let's Have Another One: Rosella's just kicking back and enjoying a drink. The reference pose was from a piece of concept art from the original.
Come See Her Dance: Since Rosella's design is lovingly ripped off from a rejected Esmeralda concept, I drew her my way in a slightly new variation.
My Young Friend Frederic: This one was kind of new. I wanted to imagine what Frederic might have looked like if he had been in the movie. I might do more with him since he was fun to draw.
Give a Kiss: So for those who don't know already, Rosella was made to be the "Harley Quinn" to my Clopin the 2nd time I did the show. Poor dear had an eye for Clopin while he had eyes for Esmeralda. (I liked half of that idea. Felt real sorry for the girl who had to play her though.)
Missed a Spot: Why would Quasimodo be wearing his Off-Broadway makeup? I don't know. Why would Madellaine be the one to help him wipe it off? I don't know. But what I DO know is that I like them together and will make up any excuse I want to draw the only character from the sequel I don't hate.
Funny Festival Faces: Based on a photo taken of the Parks versions of Clopin and Esmeralda. The latter didn't quite turn out the way I wanted so I may digitiize this one later.
Tummy Twins: It's stupid but one of the reasons I kin Clopin so much is because we have similar body types. Granted, I'm a little rounder now but at the time I thought this up, we matched. Clopin is clearly...not amused.
Whatcha Got There?: I'm sure we've all been in that position where someone we like sees something we wanted to give them. I think I could have exaggerated Rosella's pose a bit more, but hopefully it gets the point across.
Archdeacon Frollo: Let's just say I understand why they went and made him a judge in the movie as those colors do not fit his personality at ALL. Just seeing a cross around his neck makes me feel sick. Just as the caption says, this feels SO wrong.
The King's Court: The first time I played Clopin, the director gave me a right hand man. (So I chose the burly moustachioed yet curiously color changing costumed fellow we see for a brief moment for the job.) The 2nd time I played Monsieur Trouillefou, they gave me an unrequited love interest and you know the rest from there. I just thought it cool that both directors thought it necessary to give me a companion. So I thought I'd draw my character with his right and left hand people.
It Must be a Clue: Another attempt at turning a stage character into an animated one. I based my version of Saint Aphordisius on the statue of Saint Denis in the movie. I mean...they're both beheaded so it seemed only fitting.
Believe it or not, I have more scenarios kicking in my brain, but I am NOT in a good place right now, so if I live to draw out the rest, that'll be a miracle of its own.
These were a lot of fun to make so I hope you like this. Should I do more art dumps in the future? (Life permitting?)
Drawings are mine, most of the characters are Disney's and mine.
