Hey buddy, if you can. Get a Colt Delta Elite handgun for our buddy SomeNavySeals down there. I want to prove a point to him.

How bad is the kick on the gun? Even full steel handguns have issues taming the 10mm Auto.

10mm is not bad to me, might be an issue for rapid fire however. As far as how the gun will hold up. Its a Wilson Combat........ Enough said LOL

True enough. I think SomeNavySeals was assuming my dislike was towards the 1911 design. But my beef is with the catridge, which is why I prefer the Delta Elite over the orignal Goverment model. However the Wilson combat is basically a custom Delta Elite for less money. And my CZ 75 [SP01] is even less than a Wilson Combat in price.

The .45 ACP is a decent catridge but it lacks sheer velocity that other catridges offer. Like I said to him earlier, the 10mm auto has more force at 100 yards than the standard .45 ACP does at point blank [from a 4 inch barrel]

The only reason the Colt Delta Elite is more expensive is due to the collector value. If you want a good 10mm 1911 then Wilson Combat is the only choice for me. Wilson has made some major improvements in frame strength compared to the original Colt 10mm. That being said the CZ 10mm is still better in all accounts in my book, and the Glock 10mm is the king of the hill currently for long term reliability. I shot a new SF 10mm no to long ago, the SF frame feels really nice

Glocks have amazing durability but they are just way too light for me and it makes them too unweildly to control, even more so in 10mm auto [G20] Which is why I love the all steel CZ 75

Yeah. It's a bit of a pain to get it in 10mm but it's not too much just to order a custom barrel and a mag from the custom shop. COnsidering the CZ-75-SP-01 I got was 500 used and the barrel is about 200 and then the mag's, it's about 800 dollars for an all steel 10mm auto/norma

In oreder to get the true power of 10mm you either have to load it yourself, or shoot Corbon, or one of the other specialty ammo out there. Most of the off the shelf 10mm is weak compared to its real load

I'm aware. I was considering of hand loading using Hornady TPX bullets and casings. Not sure where I intend on getting the powder and the Press's are expensive. I'm not sure what equipment I'd need for Handloading my own 10mm auto's.

Or should I just stick with the Corbon's?

Loading will always be cheaper in the long run. But the initial start cost cost is scary to some. And at the moment loading components may be hard to come by

There's nothing special about the CZ 75 :V maybe the CZ 97B, but at that point you might as well just get a 1911.

Considering I put a 10x25mm barrel in my CZ 75 SP-01, this gun has more power at 100 meters than your 1911 has at point blank. The 1911 is a good pistol but it lacks the performance of my Cz 75 SP-01 in every catrigory except how heavy the gun is. Considering there are more modern and higher performance designs, despite the qaulity of the 1911 design, it's mostly an asthetic or nastelgic gun, not one carried for sheer performance.

SomeNavySEALs In reply to EverlastingAbyss [2013-03-26 21:15:46 +0000 UTC]

And ranges over 25m don't mean shit with pistols. A double stack 1911 has all the asskicking you'll ever need in a handgun, without risking your damn slide failing. If you ever encounter a situation that 14+1 rounds of match-grade hollow-point 11.5mm +P can't absolutely handle, you need an airstrike and a priest .

Except the 10x25mm auto round is designed as a Anti-predator cartridge for hunters. It's meant to be used in a handgun so it's quicker and easier to handle than a rifle and have enough power to take down a black bear in a shot or two. And considering I hunt in the forests of Oregon, there are cougars here in the forested mountain regions, you only get a matter of seconds to draw and shoot even if they are a solid 50 meters away.

The only thing a 1911 does better is being supressed, because it uses a sub sonic round.

As for the slide failing. CZ 75 is an all steel handgun and is actually more durable than the 1911.

I do love the 1911 and you seem to be under the impression I'm attacking the handgun. I'm not. I simply trust a more modern design with my life when it comes to dealing with large predators in the forest.
