Description
Stuff from an oldie toon called Mighty Max I've been watching recently, and of which probably nobody has ever heard. It's a bit silly, but I like the voice cast. And I generally end up watching all sorts of silly stuff.Related content

You did a great job with this. I love the detail in this. It doesn't need any improvements.

Aaah this series was a BIG part of my childhood, and one of my favorites, no matter how cheesy - I loved how it delved into myths and folklore. And I agree, I adored the voice cast.
Enough of that...the art is amazing, the level of detail is awesome. And while you've added so much to it, it still feels just like the show. Incredible.

I remember Mighty Max. That show was awesome. Tim Curry should be required to voice every main villian in everything.

Personally I like Christopher Lee and John Rhys-Davies more, but he's indeed an awesome voice actor.

Heh it's funny, I got nostalgic and started to watch it again recently as well (that's how I stumbled upon your page, searching MM fanart that wasn't distasteful), I used to love it as a kid. Watching it again made me aware of it's silliness though (aliens with electric plugs in their mothership and old-style air conditioning and whatnot) but somehow it's able to remain a pretty cool show after all. Must be the fine amounts of sarcastic humor in it. Oh, and Norman is awesome as ever.
Well done piece, I think you were able to capture the characters in your own style pretty well.
Norman ftw. xP

Quality work. My best cartoon show as a kid. Loving the new souped up Norman, and Virgil's new cloak/outfit. Wish they would release MM on dvd....

Like a lot the show myself. It was kinda like finding a lost classic when I started watching it only rather recently.

Errh... every time I've drawn kids hitherto, I've usually been forced to fix the pics a great deal afterwards. Maybe there's finally been some improvement.
Thanks!

that is soooo kewl! lol I sound silly when I say that, but I mean it. You did wonderful drawing the kid - with the big eyes, it totally expresses that he's more of a child than a really short person or something. I love how you threw that huge shadow in too. Totally awesome

Thanks. Maaan, I've hoped I might eventually improve with kids a bit; maybe I'm getting finally somewhere. XD Though, it helped that I found a proportions sheet somewhere for males of various ages.

Oo wow, that's good you found a proportions sheet for different sizes of males! That's good to use as a reference for the anatomy, and is something you can't pull off from the top of your head hehe Wonderful job though, it looks perfect

I remember that show!! It was way better than the toys, which I seem to remember being a more "masculine" version of Polly Pocket. =/
I think the picture's awesome.
But then, I think most of your work's awesome, so I should probably go shut up and sit in the corner.

I was too old to play with toys at that time (I feel like such an old fart.), but I vaguely remember the line being advertised in catalogs. Never really got around watching the show either, until now. XD
Thanks!

I use to watch that to, with my little brother after school. Everything looks fine to me really. Although, softening the edges of the shadow and making it a bit darker would help a bit. I like the way the shadow lays.

I'm intending to make it darker in the colored version, when I get around doing that. I'll soften it a bit too. I usually haven't drawn shadows to the lineart versions (Max & co. are missing their own), but saved them to the coloring stages. Ah well, a different kind of tryout this time.
Thanks!

zorm In reply to ToniPendragon [2007-05-03 15:09:44 +0000 UTC]
I don't use Photoshop since the interface is too small for my eyes and it doesn't allow flexibly the ambidextrous technique I'm using. PSP does have a drop shadow option, but I can't get realistic enough outlines with it. So I do it by hand.

I'm such an old fart; I was already a teenager at those times. XD I also had one of those highly illogical "I'm too old to watch cartoons!"-attitudes going on then, so I missed a lot of stuff. And now that I'm getting nearer and nearer 30, I'm going back to them. So much for being 'too old to watch cartoons'. XDD
