i mean merope was a witch so she could have got food and everything easily but being abandoned by her husband AND having a miserable upbringing was just too much. voldemort, for his whole life always thought that his father consciously married his mother and left when he found out she was a witch but it was actually merope who drugged him into a marriage.Β
in any case, voldemort saw himself as the result of a loveless union and never received a parent's love and guidance.Β
that, and the fact that his whole quest to rid the world of muggles was based on a lie.Β
so i suppose he became evil when he thought his father left his mother because she was a witch.Β
