Story:
Zdrasti snorted with contempt as Kaisa picked her down from a canter to a walk. The mare was impatient and wanted to run, but she would have to wait a little longer.
,,You're up next. Ready?" Connor asked, leaning against the fence of the warm-up arena. Kaisa pulled up next to him.
,,We both are. Zdrasti seems less than amused about waiting, at least. It's going to be a high-paced round."
Connor smiled dryly.
,,Don't let her run off with you. Remember what I told you about taking your time? It's better to clear the round in a calm and collected manner, rather than rushing headfirst into.. ah, you know the drill. Not that you pay it any heed."
,,Fortune favours the bold, does it not? Zdrasti prefers it that way."
,,I'm just saying you should be careful. There's a chance of spring showers, I've been told, and a slippery ground is--"
,,All the more reason to finish the round quickly before I encounter one of those, then." Kaisa interrupted him. Then, smiling vaguely, she added. ,,I already put in the mordax studs. You don't have to worry."
,,No?" her friend smirked. ,,Yet it seems to me you're still forgetting a very important part."
Kaisa frowned with confusion at these words. She had crossed off her list assidiously as she prepared for the competition and was quite sure she was not missing anything.
,,Hardly." she remarked after thinking carefully for a while. ,,Her legs are greased, the girth has been fastened thrice, I'm wearing my number and --"
Connor reached behind his back and held forth a wreath of flowers. Kaisa immediately ceased talking and regarded the wreath with her regular, unsmiling face.
,,Flowers?" she asked.
,,For the prettiest lady around." came the reply with a dry grin. ,,I am, of course, referring to Zdrasti."
,,Gee, thanks. What's the point of flowers?"
,,I thought all Zlesdins wore collars?" Connor mused as he fastened the flower garland around Zdrasti's slender neck; carefully avoiding the horse's hungry lips. ,,The theme is 'spring fever'; you're supposed to be decorated. So I made this."
He added a large, red flower to the bridle before he stepped back and appraised his creation with a satisfied smile. Kaisa scratched her chin thoughtfully.
,,Lovely."
,,Yeah? We're not done yet. You're next."
With those words Connor brought forth another red flower and a smaller wreath.
,,Wear the wreath on your helmet and the flower on your vest." he chuckled. ,,Make a good impression!"
,,How dignified," Kaisa sighed before doing as she was told. ,,You're having fun, aren't you?"
,,Remember to smile!" Connor japed sarcastically and evaded the whip Kaisa swung playfully in his direction.
She was fastening the red flower to her vest when the speaker called her up the the starting point.

Alriiiight, first event for Zdasti Adrenaline and Zdarloch stables!
I.. worked really hard on this, aaahhh. Those trees were sassy and refused to play along nicely, and it shows :I It's been too long since I last drew a forest scene, I realize.
Oh well, I still had fun with this. I don't think I've ever drawn so many FLOWERS in one picture before, hahaa. Death by flowers!
