Description A new LEGO model from the Blackstar series, this one is the "short" assembly from the Invader set. Modeled in Pro/Engineer, rendering with Alias ImageStudio. I like the look of the clear red plastic parts.

I'm also experimenting with Hypershot, a progressive realtime rendering engine with radiosity which looks absolutely stunning, I hope I can post something soon...

Great work! Did you model the parts from scratch or are they LDRAW-derived?

The parts are modeled from scratch, at the beginning I took measures from my LEGO bricks, but for many pieces I took LDRAW parts as reference for dimensions. Modeling everything is tough but I was able to add more details that are not present in LDRAW parts

Thank you! I must say that I'm absolutely not the first to try to remodel LEGO in 3D, I can remember examples from years ago, but now the rendering engines and modelers are more advanced and results are far better What's really fun is using pro/Engineer assembly features to "build" the models once you have created all the parts
