That is something that has always bothered me about that episode, nobody, even Celestia and Luna, was expected that the baby of the alicorn Princess Cadence was a alicorn, understand that for many fans knew that as Cadence was not always a alicorn, but the one who had a baby being a alicorn, is an OBVIOUS explanation of why Flurry Hearth was born as alicorn.
In addition, I seem to be the only one, who would know that Cadence would have a baby alicorn very much before it was cannon

After seeing this episode and reading the diary of the two sisters I had a headcanon that maybe their parents, as well as the other alicorns, were gone before they could remember. Since the book never states specifics on their birth or their raising other than being raised in Canterlot

Why did they make such a big deal out of it? I mean, Cadence is an Alicorn. Wouldn't it makes sense that Mommy Alicorns have Baby Alicorns; even if this is the first time in who knows how long an alicorn has given birth, there's still the matter of BASIC BIOLOGY.
