Description

Upon making any character you can grab two of three automatic clan mutations or none at all! (Keep in mind only by being born in said clan/having that clan's heritage can these auto mutations be claimed. You may claim up to two of the auto mutations, no more, but you can do less.)

RIVERCLAN MUTATIONS

Gills

Due to their current place of residence, Riverclan is dominated by this mutation. Given a set of gills either on the neck or ribs, these cats can use them as a secondary oxygen source other than the normal respiratory system. Able to breathe underwater, these cats can dive impossibly deep into the lake without having to worry about any repercussions. These gills won't dry out even on land, as cats with this mutation have them covered in an odd mucus/slime to prevent any damage that could occur out of the water. This mutation is clearly present at birth, and kit gills will need to be cleaned often to prevent them from suffocating while they learn how to switch between their normal respiratory system and their aquatic system.

Element Proof - Extreme Cold

Water is cold. Lake water is very cold. Deep water in a lake is below freezing. Therefore, cats need insulation. Riverclan cats, especially deep divers, have developed this mutation to deal with the the temperatures that can drop below -30F (-24C). Immune to the cold, they do not have to worry about their bodies shutting down or suffering frostbite. A slight issue with this is that these cats suffer in the summer heat, where their cold immunity is a hindrance in any temperature higher than 85F (30C). They are more prone to heatstroke and heat exhaustion. This mutation doesn't truly have a reveal-time, as it is a "mess around, find out" type of situation.

Scales

Like the fish they eat, Riverclan cats have literally grown a tendency to show scales over their body. In a variety of colors and shapes, these scales tend to resemble fresh-water species such as trout, pike, and other river/lake species. The coloration is often muted and not overly bright, meaning neons and saturation are not allowed- scales cannot be brighter than a cat's base coat. [For a salt-water species or exotic species pattern/color to be shown, it would require a ban.] Made of hard enamel, scales provide a solid defense for what they cover, but are not immune to teeth or brute force collisions. Scales, at most, can cover 35% of the body. This mutation tends to show itself three moons after birth, with tiny scales popping up and shedding all over the place. Cats will remain in the gross shedding-growing phase of scale-puberty for about a moon while their body acclimates.
