Description
Thank you for viewing my stamps, please check out the rest of my gallery!!Note: I do not claim this as my own idea. I saw it on a billboard somewhere. There wasn't any other text on it, so I don't know who made it.
That being said,
This is in reference to "God!", or the more common and too-highly-used (in my opinion) "Oh my God!"
I do admit, I do say "Oh my gosh", which isn't entirely all that better. I blame popular culture ingraining it into my head.
Another note: If you don't believe in God, don't get offended. It's still funny, right?

I type it because neither you or your god have any business telling me what I can and can't say. There are a lot of things that god and his fan club say that they have no business in saying but i will leave it there.

I think we mostly agree anyway. People have no business saying certain things, but nobody can or should forbid the freedom of speech.

Well, actually I think that people like Neo-Nazis or the WBC should be stopped, but I think people who do not believe in god have the right to blasphemy.

And while people who don't believe in God have the right to object, people who DO believe in God have the right to respect it as well.
I will leave now.

you cant really say god is or isnt real, people argue on weather he is or isnt but when it comes down to it neither side has proof that he does or doesnt exist it really depends on the person

Technically speaking, this also violates "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain" quoting it as God.
I kid of course, I'm not that picky.
Yeah, I'm fun at parties.

Hmm...I think I'll try that. 'OH MY VYA!' No...Doesn't sound quite as awesome.
See God? Despite not believing in you, me using your name to curse is my extra-special way of announcing your awesome-ness to the world...at the same time as letting out my frustration. Because really God, would you prefer it if I said some of the REALLY bad words like f**k or s**t? No I didn't think so either.
Well that's all I have to say. Im gonna go back to living my sinful Atheist, non-normative, asexual panromantic life now. Cyaz.

Yeah...That's what happens when you don't turn on the filter between your brain and your mouth. Crazy verbal spew just tumbles right out. :/
The above 'letter' to God is basically my thought process when I read the stamp.

But how does your god know I'm cursing with his name, and not some other god's?

Well, are you? I guess an omniscient being would know either way.

I really don't have any specific god which's name I'm cursing with. It's just a word.

Yes, good point. But remember free will is a necessary ingredient for loving obedience, not a counter to it

Oh, I bet God's tired of you telling him what to do, as well. And asking him for shit. You pray every night over your little problems and you daily tell people "God bless you!!" and the like. Really?

...
Stop sneezing brah, it's part of culture to say "god bless you" right after.
Nothing wrong with praying... or being happy. Eat a spoon of nutella, makes (almost) everyone happier.

It's part of culture because Christianity is being allowed to take over completely, in a country where we claim give freedom of religion, then post the ten commandments in schools and include "under God" in our pledge all at once.

SharkyToof In reply to zarhx [2012-07-16 15:37:02 +0000 UTC]
You know you don't have to say that part. I'm pretty happy they have that part in the pledge, you don't.
But have you seriously tried nutella? It is absolutely delicious.

zarhx In reply to SharkyToof [2012-07-16 19:47:55 +0000 UTC]
No, I don't 'have to say it.' But why is it there in the first place? It is THERE, in the official written pledge of my country.

I think because the immigrants who came to america were christian or catholic or something... I don't know too much of american history. I actually have no idea. Google it?

If you want to talk about it, you should be more specific.
If you don't, then, well, okay

It annoys me when people use His name like that.
"Uhh mai Gawwwd!"

SwaffyX In reply to zurisu [2012-03-16 23:25:32 +0000 UTC]
Well, so many people use it (even atheists) that it's pretty much common language. Most people don't realize that they are using Christ's name in vain.
Look up Exodus 20:7.

Lol. I've always imagined that God, if he is real, doesn't care if you take his name in vain, because it can't really hurt him. I also imagine that he just laughs at it. I'm a silly Agnostic.
