Description
After completing the Nithe, we decided she was too awesome to be distracted by coloring the rest of the image.Related content

Thanks. When I drew her it was an experiment doing a mid-stride pose and it turned out pretty well. I can look at this thing all day, myself. Most of her look has to do with my mate's outstanding color work. She's just a flat image without it.

Very nice. And what could be scarier than an utter BRUTE in such an attractive package. I'm curious about why they chose to make themselves look more or less like "human" females.

Thank you for the comment, as to the construction, there are several factors at work, not the least of which is that "alien" races are easier to play if the player can identify with the alien. That is easiest if the alien isn't a blob of tentacles.
As to the Gaterunner explenation, the Nithe were created by the Diud'chi at a much higher technological level than the Nithe currently have, and as machines, they are actually an operating system of sorts, designed to work in a specific form with its peripherals. WIN 98 will not run on a microwave oven.
As originally designed, the Nithe were to be android assistants, pesonal secretaries of a sort, for the Diud'chi. Without rehashing 6 pages of work in their respective race modules, things went wrong, there was a war, and the Nithe now do their own thing. They still carry a resemblance to a bipedal female humanoid, however. It was the way they were designed, and the form has plenty of advantages and flexibility, given that other forms of intelligent life are similarly configured.
Look for us at the upcoming Origins Game Fair in Columbus and I'll tell you all about it.

Sounds fair enough. I agree that the better non-human races for RP are ones that are nearly human since they are easier to identify with. And nearly-human forms open all sorts of possibilities for "social interaction."

Absolutely! Gateunner is made to be a playable blend of science and fiction, and how it's blended exactly will be up to those who run it.
Besides, Metropolis had the first robot beauty in it, and it was a silent film made in the 20's. The rest of us, from the Borg Queen to the third Terminator, are just riding in its wake.

True, though I hate to admit I've never seen Metropolis. I'll have to rectify that, maybe I can find a torrent or something to download it to check it out. Me personally, I'm a fantasy-freak, prefer to have my Dwarf's and Elf's running around whacking at each other with swords and axes. I like my combat up close and personal. My original link into your gallery was through some of your bondage stuff, like your pony-girl pictures. Hope to see more of those in the future.

Nope. She's a biomechanical life form. She's a very highly advanced machine. In Gaterunner, a Nithe can easily pull the roof off a car.

Very nice work! Good pose and detail, good perspective, and the color on the main figure really makes her pop when compared to the background.

Thanks. This a really, really old piece. I actually redrew her face and cut/pasted it onto the scan of the original, since it had been inked years ago. This is part of the same poster Old School Crew was scanned from. This Nithe is what they are looking at in the original.
After trying to decide what color to start with as a base for the background, we realized that it was nearly perfect as-is. This is going in the Gaterunner Rule & Tools book.

If it's an old piece, it doesn't show. Very technically proficient, and a good angle on the character.
