'A Change for the Better' is a fanfic I wrote in comic book style way back in the mid-90s. I got the talented Dave Edwards to do the comic version in 95. Dave has given his permission to post the comic.Dave Edwards - Artwork & Lettering

Summary: This story is a 'What if' sort of situation where it answers what may have happened to Starscream after he possessed the Matrix in the G2 comic. Descriptions will have added to them how the fanfic looked like when I submitted it to Dave for each page as text.

I've always imagined how life is for Starscream because I think he's always at war with not just Autobots or Megatron, but with choosing right and wrong too. To me, I feel that may be the reason Starscream is so messed up in the head at times. With Megatron, Starscream is fighting to claim the throne himself, but is unhappy. With the Autobots, he'd have a lot to live up to to be accepted. To me, poor Starscream may be evil, but I also imagine he's also sad a lot of the time because he's not so sure of anything anymore. Which would also bring the phrase "you can only count on yourself."

I certainly have. It's been a long time though, but I remember. Starscream did say something like that. The series seems to reflect about him and Hotshot too.

Yes, and I absolutely loved that about Armada. It was mostly Starscream's show, and then HotShot's. I'm way more of a Decepticon fan, but I must say that HotShot has always been one of my favorites. And of course Starscream is my favorite Transformer, not just Decepticon, of all time.

Well the way I see it, Starscream seems to have a lot happening to him all the time and is in absolute chaos with himself and others. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I really do think that Starscream is more sad than he leads on. After all, as they say with "one's not born into greatness, they must earn it" "one's not born evil, they are made evil" and sad conclusion to that, Starscream was made that way.
Still, I do like to believe there is still good in him, even if for a moment. Seems unlikely, but one can only wonder.

You're welcome. Now that's what I like about Transformers fiction, since the charcaters' inner thoughts and feelings are never really explored, but are always open to interpretation.

Me too. I'm actually writing a Transformers story of my own. I'm just about done with Volume 2.
One things certain, Transformers has inspired me to do a story of my own, so that's what I've been doing.
