Description EDIT: I hardly could sleep after the comments & critiques on those awful mountains on the right, so I just had to fix them
I hope it looks better now...
Thanks for your help!

Another totally random high-poly (52 820 272 422) scene ...though I think I've never made a scene with these lighting/atmospheric effects; the sun has just begun to rise behind the camera

Rendered in Vue 7.5 Infinite
Clouds: AsileFX

Thanks for viewing!

Stunning. The light, atmosphere and terrain detail are unbelievable. Is the low cloud/mist a cloud layer?

Maybe make the tree line less distinct and the nearest clouds could be a touch sharper and more detailed in texture but the latter is definitely a matter of taste.

Nice terrain and image depth.
The only thing that I see that could be corrected is the tree distribution. There should be trees higher up in the mountains, at least a few rogue ones.

This is such a beautifull piece. I can really feel the atmosphere there. Colors are gorgeous too.
Though, there are some things about Vue that doesnt allways fit well, don't really know why. For example the two mountains on the right ( the one at the foreground, and the one on the background) look more real than the other too on the left, wich look more Vue-ish

Don't take this comment wrong. I absolutly love this, and it's a definite

00AngelicDevil00 In reply to FacundoDiaz [2009-06-12 17:17:13 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! ...yeah, probably because the terrains on the left are standard terrains, and those on the right are procedural terrains, so they're more detailed and I had more control over them.

FacundoDiaz In reply to 00AngelicDevil00 [2009-06-12 17:49:03 +0000 UTC]

well you definetly have to use procedual terrains. they look far way better than standard!

I love this, it's perfectly framed in my tv. I love your work but I keep expecting to see a blue box (police telephone call box or tardis exterior) in these landscapes.

I may have to start fire working some tardises on to your work because it is too beautful to be present day earth

Speaking of titles, I have a peice I'm making for an art-pack on another site that I can't submit until it's released, going by the same title but mine will take that title literally and now I'll keep you in suspense by not saying any more

I like how the effects of light decay are evident on the mountains, you can see how they are redder in lower areas where the sun is only just starting to hit them

You can guess all you want but you'll never get it...amazingly, it has very little to do with space but when you see it, you'll go "Oh, of COURSE! " I'm tempted to submit it now, I have a feeling it might be one of my most popular pics, but I'd best wait

nukeation In reply to Chromattix [2009-06-19 03:19:49 +0000 UTC]

Lemme guess - it's surreal - an actual crack in the sky where the sun is?

Can't wait to see it!!!!! You've gotten me all curious!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to nukeation [2009-06-19 07:12:10 +0000 UTC]

Well that one does involve the sky, you would be able to tell when you see it, but the other I mentioned recently is one I can upload sooner so that weird Vue...thing, will come first

MythArcana [2009-06-11 23:26:26 +0000 UTC]

Pretty nice scene with a great amount of depth and with a rating of 52 billion polys, this must have been fun! How long was the render time and on what setting? I usually make my own terrains from scratch, but there is definitely an art to it that I have not mastered yet. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't...and I find that lighting affects everything in Vue differently and create this challenge. You can get a character to look perfect while the setting suffers and vice versa. It's definitely a balance game and one that can be tedious. This came out great, though...I really want to use infinite terrains!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

00AngelicDevil00 In reply to MythArcana [2009-06-12 09:30:10 +0000 UTC]

The render took less than 30 minutes with Superior quality. Though Vue got a bit slow when I was painting those conifers
I changed the terrains to procedural terrains with custom function.

Jeez, I can only dream of that kind of render time. I'm still on a 6 year old computer over here and if you see my gallery you will see just how hard I push this thing. LOL!
